Inauguration of Modi temple cancelled after PM expresses displeasure

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): The inauguration ceremony of the temple made to worship Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Rajkot's Kothadia village has been cancelled after his disapproving tweet on the same. According to reports, the initiator has decided to remove the idol and photograph from the site and build a "Bharat Mata" temple in its place. Modi earlier in the day had tweeted, "Have seen the news about a temple being built in my name. I was appalled. This is shocking and against India's great traditions. Building such Temples is not what our culture teaches us. Personally, it made me very sad. Would urge those doing it not to do it." He urged his supporters to instead devote their time and resources towards fulfilling the dream of a clean India.

At least three injured after a bridge collapses in Delhi's Pitampura

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Atleast three people were injured after a bridge collapsed in Delhi's Pitampura area on Thursday. According to reports, two cars were trapped under the debris. The injured were rushed to the nearby hospital. Reportedly, the incident took place at Madhuban Chauk at 10 am when a pillar of an under construction bridge collapsed and fell on the cars, an Alto and an Ikon. Police is investigating the matter.

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who met Delhi Chief Minister-designate Arvind Kejriwal Thursday, will not be attending the latter's oath taking ceremony on February 14. Kejriwal, who met Prime Minister Modi for about 15 minutes this morning and invited him to his swearing-in ceremony at the Ramlila Maidan, had met Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu and President Pranab Mukherjee on Wednesday. Kejriwal's party, AAP, made a clean sweep of the Delhi assembly polls yesterday, winning 67 of the 70 seats on offer and decimated rivals BJP and Congress. MEA assures assistance for man allegedly paralysed by police thrashing in Madison

New Delhi, Feb 12 (ANI): MEA Spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin on Thursday said it was providing all consular assistance to Indian national, Sureshbhai Patel, who was left partially paralyzed in the US after allegedly being thrashed by a policeman. The said the Consulate General in Atlanta had been in touch with the Madison police chief, who had ordered an inquiry into the incident. As per reports, the policeman forced Sureshbhai Patel, 57, to the ground when he went out for a walk. The police had reportedly got a complaint from someone in the neighbourhood about a 'suspicious man' and when they confronted Patel, he could not answer as he knew no English.

Authorities step up measures to combat swine flu in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, Feb 12 (ANI): Authorities in Gujarat stepped up measures to combat the fatal H1N1 virus as swine flu cases rose across the state. In Ahmedabad, arrangements for separate wards, beds, adequate medical supplies, including Tamiflu medicines, have been made in hospitals. People are being educated on preventive measures and have been instructed to wear masks, wash their hands frequently, besides sanitizing the environment. Superintendent of a government hospital, M Prabhakar said that 84 new swine flu cases were reported and 240 cases had been treated till now. The virus has killed 191 people in the country in January alone, with southern Telangana being the worst hit state. So far, 2,038 people have been afflicted by the virus in India.
