Acting on a tip off, police arrest a Maoist in Jharkhand

Palamu, Dec 04 (ANI): Police of Palamu district in Jharkhand arrested a hardcore Maoist and recovered a country made pistol, four cartridges, a motorcycle and a mobile phone from him. The arrested Maoist has been identified as Ajay Prasad alias Roshan, the Zonal Commander of Maoist outfit Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TPC). Superintendent of Police of Palamu, Mayur Patel, said that acting on a tip off, the district police dispatched a team acted to nab Prasad. Prasad is wanted in 10 cases of ransom, kidnapping and murder across Latehar, Garhwa and Palamu districts of Jharkhand. Patel added that Prasad was also involved in extortion activities of TPC-2. Karachi, Dec 04 (ANI): Pakistani military showcased domestically produced arms and defence equipment at the eighth International Defence Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS-2014), a four-day exhibition of arms and combat equipment. The exhibition was opened by Pakistani Prime Minster, Nawaz Sharif, on Monday in the port city of Karachi. The organisers say, nearly 80 foreign delegations, including 24 high level ones, headed either by their respective defence ministers, secretaries or service chiefs, are also attending the exhibition and seminar under the theme _Weapons for Peace._Russia, UAE, Australia and Portugal are taking part in the exhibition for the first time. While it has huge potential in horticulture production, the region has to depend on other states due to lack of good quality seedlings. In a move to be self-reliant, the first of its kind agri hub nursery was inaugurated at the horticulture farm on Assam Agriculture University campus in Jorhat. It has been developed at a cost of Rs. 15 crores financed under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikash Yojana. The nursery will annually produce 48 lakhs seedlings of various vegetables and seasonal flowers.
