India will play key role in Paris summit: French Foreign Minister

New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): India will play a pivotal role in the success of December 2015 Conference of Parties in Paris, said French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in New Delhi. Fabius met Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and said that major issues between the two countries needed to be tackled before the conference. Earlier in the day, Fabius attended the annual sustainable development summit and said that a global deal to curb carbon emissions must recognise each country's right to develop. He had said efforts to reach an agreement would fail if any country believed it would hurt their economic prospects. Fabius said he understood "the constraints of India" as it seeks to grow its economy. New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): US Ambassador to India, Richard Verma said that both countries should bring energy and persistence to overcome the obstacles towards achieving the shared objectives agreed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Barack Obama. Verma added that leaders had set the tone and it was up to rest of them to take the relationship forward that involves Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar and his team, cabinets, bureaucracies and national security teams. The January 25 announcement by Obama and Modi followed six weeks of intensive talks, but few details were released beyond a framework based on India's acceptance of the principle that plant operators should bear primary liability in the event of a nuclear disaster. Asian Development Bank president calls on PM Narendra Modi

New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): Asian Development Bank (ADB) President Takehiko Nakao met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Nakao was accompanied with a delegation from the ADB as they discussed matters of mutual interest to India and the ADB, with Modi. After the meet, Modi tweeted a picture of the two leaders shaking hands, reading the caption: "A very productive meeting with Mr. Takehiko Nakao, President of the Asian Development Bank. @ADB_HQ". Meanwhile, the ADB tweeted: "In meeting with @narendramodi, @ADB_HQ Pres Nakao lauds #India's brighter growth prospects". Nakao commended India's efforts to improve business environment and accelerate infrastructure investment. Radio emerges as Kashmir's hero post floods

Srinagar, Feb 06 (ANI): Radio has emerged as the ultimate choice of mass media for the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the aftermath of the floods that wrecked havoc in September last year. Hundreds of people were killed and thousands of villages were devastated by the worst flooding in decades in the Kashmir valley last year. Roads in Srinagar were transformed into stagnant canals strewn with wreckage, trash and dead animals. When all channels of communication including phone lines and other mass media networks like the state owned television channel Doordarshan were down, it was FM services of state owned station 'Radio Kashmir' which kept the people up to date with the latest happenings and also acted as a platform where their grievances were highlighted.
