New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): The government's move to scrap the previous Bill on judicial appointments and introduce a new one in the Lok Sabha got mixed reactions from various political parties. Union Law minister, Ravi Shankar Prasad, on Monday tabled the Judicial Appointments Commission Bill in the Lok Sabha and it will replace the existing collegium system when it comes into effect. Earlier, Prasad had told the parliament the government was keen to set up a committee to appoint judges in the wake of allegations of judicial corruption. Aug 13, 2014

Mulayam was responding to Lalu's recent suggestion that Mulayam and Maywati should also joined hands in Uttar Pradesh to defeat the BJP in the same way as he has allied with his bitter foe Nitish Kumar's JD (U) in Bihar. Ending weeks of speculation, Lalu and Nitish last week came together and launched a joint campaign for the August 21 by-election to 10 assembly seats in Bihar. New Delhi, Aug 13 (ANI): Top Indian sportspersons, cricketer Virender Sehwag and boxer Mary Kom will be running a marathon 'unity' launched by India's paramilitary, the Central Reserve Police Force on the occasion of 75 years of its raising. Ace Indian cricketer, Sehwag said he was glad to be a part of such an event that unites the nation. Olympian boxer, Mary Kom, said she felt blessed to be a part of a sporting event as she was fond of all types of sports. The paramilitary force, which is celebrating 75 years of its raising this year, will conduct a half-marathon called 'Run for Unity' in New Delhi on October 12. Apart from Sehwag and champion boxer Mary Kom, about three lakh personnel force would be getting in touch with a host of sportspersons and celebrities to take the track in solidarity with the trooper on ground and its martyrs. The cash incentive awards were distributed to the state's medallists at an event held at the Khuman Lampak indoor stadium in Imphal. India had sent 224-member contingent at 2014 Commonwealth Games Glasgow, which ended after 11 days of action across 17 sports. India, host of the last Commonwealth Games, finished fifth on the tally with 64 medals comprising 15gold, 30 silver and 19 bronze medals.
