Germany national soccer team arrives in Berlin after winning the FIFA World Cup title

Berlin, July 15 (ANI): Germany_s victorious national soccer team arrived home on Tuesday, two days after winning the FIFA World Cup title in Brazil. A plane carrying coach Joachim Loew and his squad touched down at Berlin_s Tegel airport where it was received by fire engines spraying the Boeing 747 with water as a welcome home gesture. Captain Philipp Lahm, carrying the trophy, was the first to leave the plane, followed by Bastian Schweinsteiger who was wrapped in a large German flag. National carrier Lufthansa temporarily changed its name to Fanhansa in honour of the world champions and added the words _winner_s plane_ (_Siegerflieger_) to its logo, complete with the picture of a soccer ball.

Prez Pranab Mukherjee presents Gandhi Peace Prize to Chandi Prasad Bhatt

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday felicitated renowned environmentalist Chandi Prasad Bhatt with 2013 Gandhi Peace Prize at a glittering ceremony in Darbar Hall at Rashtrapati Bhawan. The pioneer of the Chipko movement has also been awarded with the Ramon Magsaysay Award for community leadership in 1982 followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2005. The Gandhi Peace Prize was instituted in 1995 on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This annual award is given to individuals and institutions for their contributions towards social, economic and political transformation through non-violence and other Gandhian methods.

Protest against Ved Pratap Vaidik demanding his arrest

Jammu/ Kanpur, July 15 (ANI): People in different states staged protest against Senior Journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik on Tuesday over his meeting with 26/11 attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed. Shiv Sena workers in Jammu district shouted slogans against Vaidik and burnt his effigy. The protesters also demanded his arrest and alleged that he disrespected Indian sentiments. Meanwhile, Congress workers in Kanpur also protested against Vaidik on his infamous meeting. The protesters carried placards claiming the senior journalist to be a RSS agent. They also burnt his effigy and shouted slogans against Vaidik demanding his arrest.

Gurgoan, July 15 (ANI): Ved Pratap Vaidik, senior journalist also known as an aide of Yoga Guru Ramdev has been making desperate attempts to defend himself in the controversies he stirred by meeting 26/11-mastermind terrorist Hafiz Saeed in Pakistan. Vaidik dismissed the claims of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi that he is an RSS man. He added that the Congress is using him as a shield to attack the BJP. Vaidik further clarified that he met Hafiz Saeed in his personal capacity as a senior journalist. He accused the media of distorting his statements and by taking up such false allegations, the Congress has made a fool of themselves and has reduced the Parliament to a joke.

No government role in Vaidik-Saeed meet: Sushma

New Delhi, July 15 (ANI): Both Houses of Parliament witnessed regular disturbances on Tuesday, with an unrelenting opposition demanding an explanation from the NDA Government on journalist Ved Prakash Vaidik_s meeting with 26/11 terror mastermind Hafiz Saeed nearly two weeks ago. In the Lok Sabha, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj reiterated that it was completely unfair and wrong on the part of the opposition and the Congress Party in particular to blame the government directly for allegedly facilitating the meeting between Vaidik and Saeed. She said that Vaidik had acted in his individual capacity, and that the government had absolutely no role to play in facilitating the trip or the meeting. A similar statement was made by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in the Rajya Sabha.
