Security tightens at Indo-Nepal border for peaceful elections

Gorakhpur, April 15 (ANI): India’s Border Security force conducted surprise security check at the Indo-Nepal international border adjoining Gorakhpur following reports of smuggling of arms and ammunition at the time of general elections in the country. The security personnel and dog squads checked the vehicles and luggage crossing over from Nepal, as lack of required equipment and vigil at the border had made it an easy route for smugglers to bring in explosives. The check was conducted to ensure that Polls are carried out peacefully in the country. Recently, two militants, who tried to cross over from the other side of the border, were arrested in Gorakhpur. The security forces have been put on high alert after the incident. Meanwhile, residents lauded the efforts and initiative taken by security personnel and have shown full cooperation with the border guards. Apr 15, 2014
