Reactions flow on reports of Congress-NCP sharing seat in Maharashtra

New Delhi, July 24 (ANI): Political leaders on Thursday reacted over reports of Congress and NCP sharing seat in Maharashtra during upcoming polls. NCP leader Tariq Anwar stated that Congress and NCP are an integral part of UPA and they will mutually decide how to plan candidates in Maharashtra. Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge said that NCP Chief Sharad Pawar is a wise man and he will take a proper decision along with Congress President Sonia Gandhi which will strengthen the two party's relations. Queen Elizabeth II declares 2014 Commonwealth Games open in Glasgow

Glasgow, July 24 (ANI): The colourful event of Commonwealth Games 2014 kicked off in Glasgow after some enthralling dance and singing performances at the Celtic Park and a minute's silence for the victims of the Malaysian Airlines crash. Queen Elizabeth II travelled by train to Glasgow and declared the games open at the end of the evening's ceremony. Around 6,000 athletes gathered for the opening of the Commonwealth Games. The Games, open to athletes from the 53 Commonwealth of Nations, feature 22 sports. At least 12 children, driver killed as school bus collides with train in Telangana

New Delhi, July 24 (ANI): At least 12 children are feared dead after a train crashed into their school bus at an unmanned railway crossing in Medak district of Telangana on Thursday. The bus driver was also killed. The bus was carrying around 40 children of the Kakatiya School. Witnesses say the bus was dragged for some distance. TRS has called the incident very unfortunate. Police kill Maoist in encounter; recover arms in Jharkhand

Khunti, July 24 (ANI): Police killed one Maoist in an encounter and also recovered a huge cache of arms in red corridor of Khunti district in Jharkhand. On a tip off, police launched a joint operation along with paramilitary, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in an area where 20 to 25 rebels were estimated to be hiding. During the search operations, Maoists started firing at the police and during the encounter one Maoist was shot dead. Authorities in Siliguri take preventive measures to tackle Japanese encephalitis

Siliguri /Vadodara, July 24 (ANI): Health department in West Bengal took preventive measures to tackle Japanese encephalitis as 83 cases of the disease have been detected in the region. An outbreak of encephalitis syndrome is playing havoc near Siliguri district of the state. Following the increase of deaths, the district administration conducted a meeting with several departments to tackle the situation. Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) is spreading bleaching powders, conducting fogging at the piggeries and holding awareness campaigns. Sanitary Inspector from the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, Sunil Sarkar, said that they have identified the piggeries, given notice to vacant the places. Meanwhile, Gujarat also witnessed death of four children due to Chandipura virus in last 24 hours. Health ministry signs MoU to increase AIDS awareness

New Delhi, July 24 (ANI): Health minister, Harsh Vardhan, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with minister for information and communication, Ravi Shankar Prasad, to enable advanced online services to impart education on HIV/AIDS in the country. Prasad said major steps were taken in this regard to infuse strong education and counseling services through information and technology. He said that as India is sitting at a cusp of big 'IT revolution', this step would help improve health conditions in the country through provision of online education and counseling to patients. Police recover weapons from smugglers in Bhopal

Bhopal, July 24 (ANI): Police seized illegal pistols from smugglers in Bhopal and detained four persons in the case.Police personnel were conducting a regular check at a post when they caught a person with pistols. Police recovered nine local pistols and three other pistols from the arrested men. They also found out the smugglers supplied the weapons in Uttar Pradesh as well.People who had ordered the illegal arms have also been arrested. Search is underway for the others involved.
