17 more Indian nurses stranded in Iraq return home

Kochi, July 23 (ANI): Seventeen more Indian nurses, who were stranded in Iraq, arrived in Kerala. The first flight of Jet Airways carried seven nurses and the second Etihad flight from Abu Dhabi carried 10 nurses. Most of them had to leave their respective jobs due to tense situation in Iraq. A nurse, Nithu, said they were made to stay in an isolated hotel where nobody spoke to them. Meanwhile, another nurse, Jimmy, said Indian Embassy helped in safe return of nurses.

Railway Minister assures more safety measures after Maoists blow up railway track in Bihar

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Speaking on the railway track explosion by Maoists in Bihar, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda on Wednesday said that fortunately no causalities have been reported. He further said that he will contact CM of Bihar and will seek more help in patrolling the railway tracks in that area. Maoists blew up a railway track near Gaya, disrupting train services on Tuesday night.

Fishermen in Kerala demand separate ministry to redress their issues

Thiruvananthapuram, July 23 (ANI): A fishermen forum from Kerala conducted a signature campaign demanding Narendra Modi-led government for a separate ministry to monitor issues related to fisherfolk. BJP leader O Rajagopal kick-started the campaign, urging central government to take back permits to foreign vessels to fish in Indian seas as it would affect country___s fishermen. President of National Fishworkers___ Forum in Thiruvananthapuram, T Peter, said they would hold a national level meeting to create an action plan against the Modi government, if their demands were not met. Meanwhile, Peter said Modi___s Bharatiya Janata Party did not fulfill its promises made in the manifesto of creating a separate ministry.

Maoists blow up railway track near Gaya in Bihar

Lucknow, July 23 (ANI): Maoists blew up a railway track near Gaya, disrupting train services on Tuesday night. According to reports, the bomb blast occurred around 11.30 pm between Buraru and Ismailpur near Aurangabad in Bihar. Maoists also tried to halt a train, which was running ahead of a Rajdhani train due later. The reports claim that the pilot engine of a Rajdhani train was derailed. The Maoists had allegedly called a bandh in the area.
