Army pays homage to soldier martyred in cross border firing in Jammu

Basketball player on being forced to remove turbans during Basketball Asia Cup

Chennai, July 23 (ANI): Indian Basketball players Amrit Pal Singh and Amjyot Singh had to play Asian Basketball Championship in China without their turbans as match officials informed the players that they were violating International Basketball federation rules and can't play with the turbans. Reacting over this, Amjyot Singh on Wednesday said that he has played in many tournaments before but he has never been asked to remove his turban.

Markandey Katju clarifies not raising the corrupt judge issue earlier

Police denies receiving complaints from Maharashtra Sadan

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): New Delhi ACP SBS Tyagi on Wednesday denied receiving any complaints from Maharashtra Sadan regarding improper basic facilities. Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare had clarified that the leaders had filed a complaint with the police to look into the facilities at Maharashtra Sadan. MoU signed to boost up power capacity without additional fuel consumption in north-east

Agartala, July 23 (ANI): India’s North East Power Corporation (NEEPCO) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) to upgrade three power projects in Tripura. Two power projects – Baramura gas thermal power project and Rukhia gas thermal power plant – will be converted into combined cycle in order to raise power capacity without increasing the fuel consumption. The other Dumbur hydro power project will undergo renovation to increase its power generation capacity. Chairman-cum-managing Director of NEEPCO, PC Pankaj, said this MoU will prove very beneficial as more power will be generated without increasing the tariff. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar. The cost will be borne by both NEEPCO and TSECL.

Shiv Sena MP clarifies Maharashtra Sadan incident

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): Shiv Sena MP Rajan Vichare clarified the controversial incident that took place in Maharashtra Sadan on Wednesday morning. Vichare said that the leaders were unaware that the waiter was a Muslim and they just wanted him to know that the food was not edible. He added that the issue should not be raised from a communal angle because there was no such intention behind the act. He further stated that the facilities in Mahrashtra Sadan are not up to the mark and a complaint has been filed in Police Station in this regard.

Sikh Indian players asked to remove turbans in China

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): In a shocking incident during the Asian Basketball Championship in Wuhan, China last week, two Sikh players from the Indian Basketball team were asked to remove their turbans. The match officials informed the players that they were violating International Basketball federation rules and can't play with the turbans. Controversy over woman's autopsy report in Mohanlalganj case, politicos react

Lucknow, July 23 (ANI): The autopsy of woman, who was sexually assaulted and brutally murdered in Lucknow's Mohanlalganj, came in questions on Wednesday after it said that both her 'kidneys were intact'. The family of victim says that she donated one of her kidneys to her late husband after he battled renal failure. House adjourned after ruckus over Maharashtra Sadan incident

New Delhi, July 23 (ANI): The lower house of the Parliament was adjourned after a ruckus was created over the incident that took place in Maharashtra Sadan where a Muslim was force-fed by Shiv Sena MPs reportedly. Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said that the incident was unfortunate and added that a BJP member in the Parliament came into the well and created a ruckus due to which the house had to be adjourned. Meanwhile, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu said that no body knows what happened in Maharashtra Sadan and Shiv Sena has already clarified that no such incident has taken place. Further, the Shiv Sena MP who reportedly force-fed man fasting for Ramazan has clarified that he was only protesting against the food quality at the state guest house.
