Indian Army ready to thwart infiltration bid by Pakistan, security beefed up along Indo-Pak border

Poonch, Aug 25 (ANI): Senior Army officers expressed confidence that the soldiers posted in forward areas along the India Pakistan border in Kashmir are well trained to foil any attempts by Pakistan to pump in infiltrators across the Line of Control. Kashmir has witnessed almost uninterrupted ceasefire violation by Pakistan since August 15. Brigade Commander, Sanjay Thakaran, posted in border district of Poonch said on Monday that the soldiers are aware of Pakistan's attempt to keep the tension on Line of Control high, but all such attempts will be thwarted. Another officer, Colonel Amit Bisht, also spoke on the same lines and assured that every bid to infiltrate will be thwarted. Aug 25, 2014

The Congress wrested Bellary Rural from the BJP, retained Chikkodi-Sadalga, while former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa once again established his hold over Shikaripur with his son B Y Raghavendra winning it. SC says all coal block allocations since under UPA regime illegal

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday said that all coal block allocations that were done under UPA regime are done in an illegal manner and it suffers from vice of arbitrariness. The court observed that there were no transparency and that no guidelines were followed in the allocation. A special bench headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha delivered the verdict on the two-year-old petitions that were based on Comptroller Auditor General’s (CAG) report, estimating a loss of Rs. 1.64 lakh crore caused due to the arbitrary allocations.
