Mumbai, August 25 (ANI): With utmost poise and grace, Bollywood's top actress Kareena Kapoor brought the curtains down on the Lakme Fashion Week 2014, as she cat walked the runway for the ace fashion designer Manish Malhotra in India's showbiz capital Mumbai. Manish Malhotra showcased the absolute's bridal trousseau at the Lakme Fashion Week Grand Finale for which he joined forces with the make-up maestro, Cory Walia. Bollywood diva Kareena Kapoor dazzled the ramp donning a gorgeous metallic purple long Lehenga with shades of grey and a complete diamond and silver studded open jacket which was teamed with a net veil dupatta. Speaking on the occasion Kapoor praised Malhotra saying he is a blessing for not just the fashion industry but for the film industry as well. Malhotra's bridal range which was a blend of gowns, skirts, sarees and lehenga cholis with diamond studded sequences and embroidery work, at the grand finale of Lakme Fashion Week. Political crisis deepens in Pakistan

Islamabad, Aug 25: Pakistan is facing one of its worst political crises in the present era. An estimated 50,000 protesters, who are holding Islamabad city to ransom, marched to Parliament demanding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif's resignation. The twin anti-government protests by cricket star-turned politician Imran Khan and activist cleric Tahir ul-Qadri are targeted at ousting the PML-N-led government on charges of corruption and inflation. Imran Khan, who is leading the 'Azadi March', is also protesting against the alleged vote rigging that took place in last year's polls. However, PM Sharif is ready offer Khan a full audit of the ballots to address his concerns on poll rigging.

SC says all coal block allocations since under UPA regime illegal

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Monday said that all coal block allocations that were done under UPA regime are done in an illegal manner and it suffers from vice of arbitrariness. The court observed that there were no transparency and that no guidelines were followed in the allocation. A special bench headed by Chief Justice RM Lodha delivered the verdict on the two-year-old petitions that were based on Comptroller Auditor General’s (CAG) report, estimating a loss of Rs. 1.64 lakh crore caused due to the arbitrary allocations. Further, the apex court has announced the sate for taking a decision on re-allocation of mines as 1 September, 2014.

Omar Abdullah assures steps to rehabilitate victims of ceasefire violations

Srinagar, Aug 25 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, on Monday (August 25), maintained that all steps are being taken to rehabilitate the victims of the ceasefire violations along the India-Pakistan border. BJP slams Omar for asking Centre to hold 'talks' to end Pak firing

JKNPP protests govt apathy towards victims of ceasefire violation in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 25 (ANI): Representatives of Jammu and Kashmir National Panther's Party (JKNPP) held demonstrations in the Kashmir State Assembly on Monday against the apathy of the central and state governments towards those who have been affected by the recent ceasefire violations on the border. Pakistan army violated a ceasefire on the Indian border in the intervening night of August 24th and August 25th in Jammu district of the region. People living along the border have been under constant threat of the firing which has made them leave their homes overnight. Political leaders blame MP govt for lack of safety measures leading to Chitrakoot temple stampede

New Delhi/ Bhopal, Aug 25 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday blamed the Madhya Pradesh government for lack of safety measures which led to stampede at Kamtanath Pahad Temple in Chitrakoot. At least 10 people were killed in the temple stampede that took place early morning and officials say the death toll is to increase further. Former Diplomat slams Omar Abdullah asking centre to hold talks with Pak to end firing

New Delhi, Aug 25 (ANI): Former Indian Diplomat Rajiv Dogra on Monday slammed Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on his controversial statement linking shelling of border villages by Pakistan to the calling off of the foreign secretary-level talks between the two countries by the Narendra Modi government. Dogra said that Abdullah is trying to cover up his inaction during his tenure by such statements and this would only lower the morale of Army and people along the international borders. He also said that ceasefire violations by Pakistan have increased recently and that Indian Army should take adequate actions in advance and should not waste any time whatsoever.
