Security beefed up in Moradabad after violence

Moradabad, July 5 (ANI): Security has been beefed up in Moradabad city on Saturday, following a violent clash between BJP workers and police. The detention of BJP leaders, workers and supporters while on their way to attend a huge religious gathering (Mahapanchayat) in Moradabad, led to clash with police and the SP workers. A District Magistrate and a police official were injured in the stone-pelting by protesters. Police resorted to rounds of firing to control the unruly mob. New Delhi, July, 05 (ANI): Situation in Moradabad is coming back to normal a day after clashes between two communities broke out over the installation of loudspeakers near a religious place. Five BJP leaders, including Muzaffarnagar riot-accused Sangeet Som and four MPs, were detained near Morababad after they tried to defy a ban on the party from holding a 'mahapanchayat' in Kanth area. Protesters blocked train lines and resorted to stone-pelting to lodge their protest. The police had to resort to tear gas shelling to dispel the crowd. Rail traffic route was also disturbed due to the agitation. The BJP leaders were later released on the condition that they will stay away from the area and not create any more disturbances. Kochi, July 05 (ANI): The special Air India plane carrying 46 Indian nurses and 137 others from strife-torn Iraq lands in Mumbai at 8:43 am, an airport official said on Saturday. The anxiety of the parents and relatives increased as the aircraft carrying the nurses got delayed by over five hours. The family members of 46 Indian nurses are eagerly waiting at the airport in Kochi city as they are expected to arrive by Air India Flight by 11:45 am Saturday. Non Resident Keralites Association (NORKA) Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Sudeep said that his organisation have made arrangement for providing transportation from the airport to the place of residence. A senior official of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was shot dead when extremists ambushed the security forces in Jamui district of the state. Officials claim Indian workers tortured in Iraq for posting video appealing for help

Nawanshahr, July 05 (ANI): Indian officials claimed that a few citizens were tortured by their employer in the strife-torn Iraq for posting a video in which they appealed New Delhi to evacuate them. In the video they also mentioned that they were receiving low wages and nobody is helping them to get back to India. Doctor Jasbir Singh, who is treating a victim named Rajkumar, said he was subjected to brute torture and is in a state of shock. Rajkumar, along with 14 other workers recently returned to his home at Nawanshahr town in Punjab, and has sustained injuries on his hand and chest. Baramulla, July 5 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the 240 megawatt Uri-II hydropower project in the mountains of Jammu and Kashmir, barely a mile from the Line of Control (LoC), the de facto border dividing Kashmir between India and Pakistan. Modi dedicated the 240 MW Uri-II hydropower project to the nation built by NHPC at a cost of Rs. 2290 crore in Jammu and Kashmir. This is the second power project on river Jhelum in Uri area in Baramulla district and is located downstream of the 480-MW Uri-I project, which is already operational. Earlier in the day, Modi flagged off the inaugural train on a new stretch of railway to the town of Katra to Vaishno Devi.
