Pakistan anti-government protesters vow to continue after talks deadlock

Islamabad, Aug 24 (ANI): Supporters of opposition leader Imran Khan said on Sunday that they will continue their protest in the Pakistani capital, Islamabad, after the government rejected a proposal by Khan's party for the prime minister to step down for one month. Pakistan Tehreek Insaf (PTI) said Nawaz Sharif should resign temporarily while a judicial commission investigates whether or not the 2013 general elections had been rigged. Some leaders of PTI said that the party was not willing to show flexibility in its demand for the prime minister's resignation. Khan demanded that fresh elections should be held if rigging is proved by the judicial commission. Khan's supporters are hopeful their demonstration will eventually push the government to agree to their leader's demand. Mumbai, Aug 24 (ANI): Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday said that the ministry is aiming to expand PNG (Piped Natural Gas) system to households to the maximum by 2022. He said that the ministry had a meeting over the same and is ready to start the works for the same in order to achieve the goal. He advocated about the system saying that the gas is more safe, economical and eco friendly. Pradhan said that the same would be tried to the maximum and is hopefully to cover 70 per cent of the household and the rest of the gap could be filled up by the LPG.
