Navy Day celebrations kick start at Vizag

Vizag, Nov 11 (ANI): Kick starting the Navy Day celebrations, the Eastern naval Command organized Pratibimb- 2013, a painting competition for children from various schools in Vizag. Nearly 1,400 children from various government and private schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, across the city participated in the event which saw the naval community joining hands with the civilians. Rear Admiral AK Saxena lighted the lamp to mark the launch of 'Pratibimb-13'. A number of events are lined up leading to the Navy Day on December 4. People gathered together to celebrate this century old buffalo fighting fair, to preserve the old traditions and religious belief of the area. This is also done to praise Hindu gods and local deities. Meanwhile, Virender Kashyap, an MP from Shimla, who was also present during the fair said that such traditions help in preserving the culture of Himachal Pradesh. Four dead in Dhanbad coal mine

Dhanbad, Nov 11 (ANI): Over 10 miners got trapped on Monday at around 11.30 am at a coal mine in Nirsa in Dhanbad after its roof collapsed. Four people are feared dead. Rescue teams have rushed to the spot and operation is on to save the trapped miners. Senior Bharat Coking Coal Limited and Dhanbad district administration officials are at the spot. Maoists kill three, set ablaze a vehicle in Bihar

Amkola, Nov 11 (ANI): Maoists killed three villagers and then set ablaze a vehicle in Amkola village in Bihar's Gaya District. The rebels swooped down on the village when the villagers where enjoying a cultural night. Villagers from the neighbouring villages were also present at the cultural event when the group of Maoists started firing indiscriminately. Hundreds of people lose their life in the violence, perpetrated by the rebels. The Maoist insurgents are estimated to number between 7000 hardcore fighters in nearly a third of India's 630 districts.
