BJP hails Delhi budget, opposition slams

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): The Delhi Budget, which was presented by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Friday met with wide criticism from rival party leaders. Manish Sisodia of the Aam Aadmi Party said that the BJP budget was no different from the Congress budget, as it has nothing to offer to the common man. Congress leader Haroon Yusuf stated that the BJP has only proved that Congress' policies where always right. On the other hand BJP leader and Health Minister Dr Harshvardhan said that not just the BJP, even the people of Delhi were very happy with the budget. The 36,776 crore budget proposes new medical colleges, multi speciality hospital, girls' high schools, remote ambulances, community toilets and most importantly, power subsidy for small electricity consumers. Protests erupt over rape of six-year-old girl in Bangalore

Bangalore /New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Members of a student organisation and BJP on Friday protested against the rape of a six-year-old girl by two staff members in her school in Bangalore.The crime took place on July 02 in the school campus during class hours and the child is now receiving treatment in hospital. Members of student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gathered outside the school and staged a protest, accusing the school authority of inaction. They said the government should step up their efforts and address the issue with utmost urgency. The girl was allegedly raped by a security guard and a gym teacher. Meanwhile, BJP leaders also protested outside the assembly against the ruling Congress government for its failure to take steps. Condemning the incident, women activist Annie Raja slammed the government for acting in a non-serious manner towards such crimes. Jul 18, 2014

Allahabad HC issues notice to PM Modi on petition against his election from Varanasi

Allahabad, July 18 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been issued a notice by the Allahabad High Court on a petition filed by Congress leader Ajay Rai challenging Modi's election from Varanasi. In his petition, Rai, who contested as Congress' candidate from the constituency in the recent Lok Sabha polls, has reportedly alleged that Modi had left blank columns relating to his wife Yashoda Ben's PAN card details and her income, which violated Supreme Court's directions. Woman amputee mountaineer to climb Mount Elbrus, meets Rajnath Singh

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): India's female amputee mountaineer, Arunima Sinha, and her colleagues on Friday met Home Minister Rajnath Singh before leaving for Russia to climb Mount Elbrus that is 8000 meters above the sea level. Sinha, a national level volleyball player, is country's first woman amputee to scale Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Everest. Indian workers jailed in Saudi Arabia return to New Delhi after release

New Delhi, July 18 (ANI): Forty Indian workers wrongly detained in a prison in Saudi Arabia's Mecca returned safely to New Delhi on Friday after the government facilitated their release. The workers, who were in prison for over a year, finally heaved a sigh of relief and joy after they were brought back to their families. Earlier on July 02, family members of the workers approached Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj, and appealed to bring back their relatives safely.
