Indian Vice President visits China, says will take up matters of bilateral agenda

Beijing, June 26 (ANI): Indian Vice President Hamid Ansari on Thursday visited China's capital Beijing on the 60th anniversary of Panchsheel Treaty. Ansari said that he is having a bilateral visit and all matters of bilateral agenda will be taken up in the council. Sarah Jessica Parker to make TV comeback with 'Busted'

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Sarah Jessica Parker will be making a TV comeback with limited-series adaptation of a crime thriller, ' Busted: A Tale of Corruption and Betrayal in the City of Brotherly Love.' She would be playing one of the two leads in the TV drama, which is based on a nonfiction book by investigative reporters Wendy Ruderman and Barbara Laker, media reported. David Frankel, who had helmed a number of episodes of ' Sex and the City' as well, would be directing as well as executive produce the series, while Don Roos will jot the pilot.

Madhuri Dixit becomes brand ambassador of MP health scheme

Bhopal, June 26 (ANI): The health department of central Indian Madhya Pradesh and the state unit of UNICEF appointed Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit as brand ambassador of a state scheme promoting mother and child welfare. Dixit along with state chief, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and health minister of Madhya Pradesh, Narottam Mishra launched the second phase of the campaign on Thursday in Bhopal city. Dixit has been selected as the brand ambassador for Madhya Pradesh government's 'Mamta Abhiyan' (Maternal and Child Health Campaign). Dixit emphasised on the steps being taken by the state government to ensure the safety and health of mother and child. Also Shivraj Singh Chouhan said that people should not discriminate between a boy child and a girl child.

Indian PM accepted invite to visit Bangladesh: MEA

Dhaka, June 26 (ANI): Ministry of External Affairs on Thursday highlighted the relations between Bangladesh and India post Indian Foreign Minister's visit to the neighbouring country. MEA spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin said that Bangladesh has assured that it will not allow its territory to be used against India. He also said that the Indian Prime Minister has accepted the invitation extended by the Bangladesh PM to visit Bangladesh. Akbaruddin added that the External Affairs Minister personally handed over a letter by the Indian PM to Bangladesh's Prime Minister inviting her to visit India and chart her way to the bilateral talks between both nations.

National Food Security Act extended for three months

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Food and supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday said that implementation of National Food Security Act has been extended by three months and all the states of the country will get a time frame of three-months to implement the Act. The announcement came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Paswan to discuss inflation.

BSE closes points 251.07 down on June 26

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 251.07 points down to stand at 25,062.67. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 76.05 points down to stand at 7,493.20. Bosch and Shriram Transport Finance Co. Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.74% and 4.83% along with Gujarat State Petronet Ltd. and Emami with an increase of 4.50% and 3.97% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation with a decrease of 5.89% and 4.68% along with Petronet LNG and HPCL with a decrease of 4.34% and 4.03% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 20.03 points at 15,280.35 while the banking sector is down 197.99 points at 17,261.72 and the realty sector is down 57.44 points at 2,039.31. The Indian currency is down 0.06% at Rs 60.16 per dollar.

Bollywood actors celebrate success of 'Humshakals'

Mumbai, June 26 (ANI): The cast and crew of Bollywood comedy film 'Humshakals' came together in India's showbiz capital Mumbai on Wednesday to celebrate the success of the film as it raked in rupees 760 millions in four days post its release. The makers of the film said they were worried that the negative reviews on social media would hamper the film's business. Producer Vashu Bhagnani also said the film has done exceptionally well despite the negative publicity and reviews by critics have not affected the film's performance at the box office. Sushma Swaraj meets Bangladesh PM, holds talks with counterpart in Dhaka

Dhaka, June 26 (ANI): Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj held talks with Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, to bolster strategic partnership. Swaraj met Hasina to discuss key bilateral issues, after meeting Ali. The two foreign ministers discussed the Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement, and Swaraj also raised the issue of illegal immigration. The two leaders also discussed economic ties and cooperation. However, no major pacts or agreements are a part of the 'goodwill' visit, which is aimed at further enhancing relations between the South Asian neighbours. Swaraj will also meet the Chief of BNP, Begum Khaleda Zia and Jatiya Party leader Rowshan Ershad on Friday.
