Congress says the way of appointing Nripendra Mishra is objectionable

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): Congress leader Shashi Tharoor and Veerappa Moily on Friday reacted to the TRAI Amendment Bill which is to be tabled in Lok Sabha. Tharoor said that the party is not against the appointment of Nripendra Mishra as the Principal Secretary of the PM, but they are against the way in which the appointment is going to happen. Meanwhile, Veerappa Moily said that the appointment of Nripendra Mishra is not taking place in the right manner. The bill has been tabled in the Lok Sabha.

Following 2 days of incessant rain, Mumbai stands waterlogged

Mumbai, July 11 (ANI): The incessant heavy rainfall along with high tide threw normal life in Mumbai out of gear on Friday as several parts of the city and suburbs remained flooded. Following the incessant rain, chronic flooding spots like Hindmata, Mahim junction, Kurla west and Chembur have been waterlogged in Mumbai. The BMC disaster management however has maintained that the situation is under control. It has been raining incessantly since the last two days in Mumbai and the catchment area of the lakes has hit a 5-year low with the BMC is planing to increase the water cut to 30 per cent.

Nagaland Governor Vakkom Purushothaman resigns over arbitrary transfer

Trivandrum, July 11 (ANI): Nagaland Governor Vakkom Purushothaman resigned from post on Friday after he was transferred from Mizoram on Sunday. Purushothaman has claimed that he was not consulted regarding his transfer as the Governor of Mizoram to Nagaland. Purushothaman has sent across the resignation letter to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Purushothaman had come down heavily on the NDA government for nudging Governors appointed by the UPA government to resign so as to make way for their appointees.

Indian workers stranded in violence-hit Iraq arrive home

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): Indian workers caught up in fighting in Iraq arrived home on Friday and were greeted at the airport in New Delhi, as many others are still being held captive by the suspected militants. About 10,000 Indians work in Iraq, mostly in areas unaffected by the fighting, but scores of them have returned to India since ISIL began its offensive. Recalling his ordeal, a worker Prashant Mahto said with the efforts of Indian government they were been able to make it back to their homes. Expressing gratitude towards Indian embassy and government, another worker, who was stranded in Iraq, Ela reddy said the situation is tense in the strife-torn country.

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): Political leaders on Friday reacted over Pakistan Foreign Minister’s remark saying that Pak does not accept Kashmir as a part of India. Zohra Sehgals mortal remains burnt at Lodhi Road crematorium

New Delhi, July 11 (ANI): The mortal remains of Bollywood legendary actress Zohra Sehgal was given fire on Friday at the Lodhi Road crematorium in the presence of family and friends. Sehgal was brought to the crematorium in a hospital ambulance at 11:00 AM following her death at the Max Hospital due to cardiac arrest. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of veteran actress. He tweeted, "Prolific and full of life, Zohra Sehgal made a mark through her acting, which is admired across generations. Saddened on her demise.” The last remains of the legendary actress were carried till her pyre by grand daughters Sujata, in the presence of daughter Kiran and great granddaughter Madhyama.
