36 Indian prisoners released from Malir jail in Pakistan

Karachi, Nov 28 (ANI): Pakistan authorities on Friday released 36 Indian prisoners, 35 of them fishermen, as a "goodwill gesture". The Indian prisoners were freed from Malir jail in the port city of Karachi. All the released inmates were sent to Lahore by bus. They will be handed over to Indian authorities at the Wagah border on Saturday (November), officials said. The fishermen had been arrested for illegal fishing in Pakistani waters. One prisoner was arrested for illegally crossing the border. Pakistan's biggest "Edhi charity" distributed gifts and cash among prisoners. Each prisoner was handed Rupees ten thousand for expenses on the way. Freed Indian prisoners said that they were happy at their release. Nov 28, 2014

Some BJP leaders have decided to hold a demonstration on the campus on the birth anniversary of Raja Mahendra Pratap, an alumnus of AMU, whose family was closely associated with Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, the founder of the institution. In a letter to Union Human Resource Development minister Smriti Irani, the Aligarh Muslim University’s Vice-Chancellor wrote that there could be huge communal unrest if the birth anniversary of freedom fighter Pratap is observed on the campus. India, Mozambique enter new oil venture

New Delhi, Nov 28 (ANI): India and Mozambique signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation in the field of oil and gas for five years in New Delhi on Friday. Minister of foreign affairs and cooperation of the Southeast African country, Oldemiro Julio Marques Baloi, and India’s petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan entered into this venture with an aim to enhance bilateral cooperation on the basis of equality and mutual benefit of both the countries. The two sides discussed various areas of mutual cooperation in the energy sector. The minister stated that both countries should work together in gas and oil sector so that the commercial interest of both the countries can be protected. Philately exhibition displaying world's first, rare stamps draws crowd in Kochi

Kochi, Nov 28 (ANI): Some unique and rare collections of stamps ranging from world's first ‘Penny Black' to the oldest ones along with India's heritage stamps were on display at a philately exhibition in Kerala. The two-day exhibition called ‘Kochipex 2014', which pulled sizeable crowd including school children to veteran philatelists, began on Thursday in Kochi. Stamps depicting Jesus Christ's life (birth to resurrection) and painter-sculptor Leonardo da Vinci's ‘Vitrovian Man' were also on display at the exhibition. The exhibition that started with a ceremonial function was a visual treat for the enthusiasts and stamp collectors. The exhibition also gave a chance to exhibit collection of coins and Indian rupee notes for the collectors. Stamps carrying photos of India's former politicians and greats like Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi and Mahatma Gandhi among others also attracted visitors. M Venkateswarlu, Post Master-General, central region of India Post said that such exhibitions should be organised regularly across the country to encourage the hobby of collecting stamps, especially among students.
