Jammu, Jan 28 (ANI): Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Wednesday filed nomination papers for Rajya Sabha in Jammu. Azad said that National Conference and Congress have been together since the fight for freedom of India so it is not new if they again join hands. He added that the comments of US President Barack Obama on religious cooperation was a master stroke as he gave a lesson to the government that no country can progress until people from all religions are taken along. Nithari killer Surinder Koli's death sentence commuted to life term by Allahabad HC

Allahabad, Jan 28 (ANI): The Allahabad High Court on Wednesday converted the death sentence of Surendra Koli to life imprisonment in the Nithari killings case. The decision taken was based on a PIL filed in the case, citing a delay in the hearing of his mercy petition. Koli's mercy plea had been pending for three years. He was convicted of the murder, rape and cannibalism of five children, while another 14 cases against him are still pending.
