National Food Security Act extended for three months

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Food and supplies Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on Thursday said that implementation of National Food Security Act has been extended by three months and all the states of the country will get a time frame of three-months to implement the Act. The announcement came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi called a meeting with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh and Paswan to discuss inflation.

BSE closes points 251.07 down on June 26

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 251.07 points down to stand at 25,062.67. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 76.05 points down to stand at 7,493.20. Bosch and Shriram Transport Finance Co. Ltd. were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 7.74% and 4.83% along with Gujarat State Petronet Ltd. and Emami with an increase of 4.50% and 3.97% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include ONGC and Indian Oil Corporation with a decrease of 5.89% and 4.68% along with Petronet LNG and HPCL with a decrease of 4.34% and 4.03% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 20.03 points at 15,280.35 while the banking sector is down 197.99 points at 17,261.72 and the realty sector is down 57.44 points at 2,039.31. The Indian currency is down 0.06% at Rs 60.16 per dollar.

Delhi court summons Sonia, Rahul in National Herald case

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): A Delhi court has summoned Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leaders as accused in National Herald newspaper case filed on charges of criminal conspiracy and cheating. Bollywood actors celebrate success of 'Humshakals'

Mumbai, June 26 (ANI): The cast and crew of Bollywood comedy film 'Humshakals' came together in India's showbiz capital Mumbai on Wednesday to celebrate the success of the film as it raked in rupees 760 millions in four days post its release. The makers of the film said they were worried that the negative reviews on social media would hamper the film's business. Producer Vashu Bhagnani also said the film has done exceptionally well despite the negative publicity and reviews by critics have not affected the film's performance at the box office. The film's music has been composed by singer-composer, Himesh Reshammiya. The movie hit the silver screen on 20th June 2014.

Sushma Swaraj meets Bangladesh PM, holds talks with counterpart in Dhaka

Dhaka, June 26 (ANI): Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj held talks with Bangladesh counterpart Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka, to bolster strategic partnership. Swaraj met Hasina to discuss key bilateral issues, after meeting Ali. The two foreign ministers discussed the Teesta water sharing and Land Boundary Agreement, and Swaraj also raised the issue of illegal immigration. The two leaders also discussed economic ties and cooperation. However, no major pacts or agreements are a part of the 'goodwill' visit, which is aimed at further enhancing relations between the South Asian neighbours. Swaraj will also meet the Chief of BNP, Begum Khaleda Zia and Jatiya Party leader Rowshan Ershad on Friday.

Young Indian girls design jeans to protect women from rape

Varanasi, June 26 (ANI): Two young Indian engineering students have designed a jeans fitted with a walkie-talkie in an attempt to prevent rapes and other crimes against women. The jeans, the brainchild of Diksha Pathak and Anjali Srivastava, will alert the police or a guardian by a mere press of a button in case a woman senses any threat. Pathak and Srivastava, who hail from the temple town Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh where crimes against women have been rising, created the device in order to help women safeguard themselves if faced with an untoward situation. In case of unavailability of network, or if the dialled number is unreachable, the call will automatically divert itself to police's helpline number.

JuD blacklisted: Praful Bakshi says US rethinking on Pakistan

New Delhi, June 26 (ANI): Commenting on the United States' move to include Jamaat-ud-Dawa in its list of terrorist organizations, Praful Bakshi, Wing Commander (Retd) Indian Air Force, on Thursday said that this move implies that the US is rethinking on Pakistan and has, therefore, approached India to help it. He said that JuD was involved in terror attacks in Herat, Bombay and Karachi airport, and added that this group is getting arms and money from their sympathizers in other countries. He hoped that there will be positive and offensive actions against JuD from now onwards.
