India plans to revamp age old postal network

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): India plans to revamp age old postal network for extending services in the fields of banking, insurance and e-commerce in the country. Minister of Communications and Information Technology Ravi Shankar Prasad said that vast network of postal department must be leveraged to promote creativity. A task force on leveraging the post offices network of the country among others had suggested setting up of three subsidiaries as a part of a holding company under the postal department under the ministry of communication and information technology for extending services in the fields of banking, insurance and e-commerce. After releasing the report submitted by the task force, Prasad said that postal department needs to rediscover themselves. It was proposed that a new postal law may be enacted to give statutory basis for these operations. Dec 5, 2014

Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar says Rohtak girls harassment case will be probed

New Delhi, Dec 05 (ANI): Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said that the alleged eve-teasing case on a moving bus with two sisters must be investigated. On November 30, police had arrested three men - Kuldeep Singh, Mohit and Deepak - after the two sisters had claimed they were harassed by the men even before they boarded the bus. To reward the girls for their bravery, the state government had announced the two to be honoured on the Republic Day function next year in January.But the state authorities have now decided to put the bravery award for sisters on hold after another similar video went viral showing the girls beating another alleged eve-teaser. Militants open fire at Army camp in JandK, firing still on

Baramullah/ Srinagar, Dec 05 (ANI): Militants on Friday opened fire at 31 field regiment Army camp in Baramullah district of Jammu and Kashmir. The attack by the militants is ongoing as firing continues in the Uri sector of the district. Meanwhile earlier on Thursday, unidentified militants hurled a grenade at the house of apolitical leader_s relative in Jammu and Kashmir. The ill-fated house belonged to Bashir A Wahi, who is relative of People_s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Tariq Hameed Karra, in Srinagar. Security forces immediately rushed to the place and cordoned off the area. Nobody was injured in the attack. The Himalayan region is one of the world_s most militarised zones, with India deploying more than 1.3 million troops to quell the rebellion that triggered off in 1989. Dec 5, 2014

Modi, during his recent visit to Assam, had indicated the India-Bangladesh land deal signed by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will be moved forward, which means Assam will lose a big chunk of land which is facing stiff opposition by many political parties including regional Assam Gana Parishad (AGP).
