Colombia signs amended peace deal with FARC rebels

Colombia’s President Juan Manuel Santos and Marxist Farc rebel leader Rodrigo Londono signed a new, revised peace accord on 24 November. The new agreement will end 52 years of war, and was put together in a month after the original was defeated in a referendum on 2 October. This time it will not be put to a popular vote but will be presented to Congress directly. Nov 25, 2016

Police hunt for gunman after elderly woman killed at monks retirement home in Montpellier

French police are hunting for an armed man following an attack at a home for retired missionaries in Montferrier-sur-Lez in the south of France. A caretaker managed to call the police around 10:30pm on 24 November after being attacked and tied up by an unknown man. When police arrived at the scene the body of a woman was found with stab wounds.The motive for the attack is as yet unknown but so far has not been linked to terrorism. Around 70 former missionaries, who worked in Africa, who were in the home, were unhurt. Nov 25, 2016
