Venezuelan President Maduro creates popular assembly for constitution rewrite amid more anti-government protests

Venezuelas socialist President Nicolas Maduro has called for a rewriting of the countrys constitution in a bid to quell the ongoing protests against his government. Anti-government protests continued for a second month on May Day, as the opposition want a general election to try to end 18 years of socialist rule. Millions are suffering from chronic food shortages and cannot afford basic medicines due to an economic crisis in the oil rich country. May 2, 2017

Felix, the office cat of Londons Royal Docks Management Authority, had a lucky escape when she fell into the Thames on 30 April. In a video shared to the Royal Docks Facebook page, a man named as Scott, an engineering and operations manager, is seen rushing to the cats rescue, and pulling it out of the water.
