Omars remark on AFSPA sparks debate among politicos

Srinagar, Jammu, Feb 24 (ANI): J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s statement that he would work for the revocation of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) that gives security forces sweeping powers to search arrest or shoot people became a point of debate and garnered criticism among political leaders. Commenting on the same, Awami Ittihaad Party President Engineer Rashid, on Monday said that the chief is trying to fool people with these false statements. BJP leader, Jugal Kishore Sharma, said the statement is political in nature as the state is still one of the militarized zones of the country. Meanwhile, National Panthers Party leader, Harsh Dev Singh, said that they have always been making the same statement since many years and it is not something new what Abdullah has announced.
