No human rights violations took place in 2009: Sri Lankan minister

Bhopal, March 02 (ANI): Sri Lanka's Deputy Finance Minister, Sarath Amunugama, who was in Madhya Pradesh to speak at an international symposium, said that there were no human rights violations in 2009 - towards the end of 25-year long war between the Tamil rebels and Sri Lankan government. Reacting to the recommendation of United Nations to investigate the alleged war crimes, Amunugama denied that there were any human right violations but said Sri Lankan government is falling victim to allegations of 'Tamil Diaspora'. Amunugama lambasted the Tamil diaspora who he alleged to be conspiring against the Sri Lankan administration. He added that his government will answer for the charges levelled against them.

Canada to woo young Indian entrepreneurs: David Johnston

Mumbai, March 02 (ANI): Governor General of Canada, David Johnston, said that the Canadian government will initiate a project to encourage start-up entrepreneurships from India, understanding the possibilities of newer ideas. Johnston was speaking at the Indo-Canadian Business Chamber National Convention 2014 in Mumbai. Johnston is accompanied by his wife Sharon Johnston on his visit to India that is aimed at strengthening bilateral and economic ties. Johnston said that Canada is looking forward to encourage young and innovative entrepreneurs from India who want to develop and market their ideas in Canada. He also stressed that stronger entrepreneurial ties between the countries is an imperative. Johnston also shed light on the commonalities of India and Canada.

BJP calls Congress an ordinance factory

PM announces new initiatives for faster development of MSME sector

New Delhi, March 02 (ANI): Prime Minister Manmohan Singh announced new initiatives by the central government to focus on the faster development of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the country. Focusing on skill development and promotion of new technologies, the MSME Ministry of India is setting up 15 new tool rooms with assistance from the World Bank. Singh added that the ministry has also taken steps to promote bilateral cooperation of the MSME sector in India with other countries for giving it additional exposure to international markets and foreign technologies. He requested the participation of private sector and civil societies for the success of these initiatives. Singh also threw light on the achievements of Prime Minister's Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) which has created a staggering number of job opportunities.

Congress hails ECs order to take action on manipulation of opinion polls

President gives assent to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill
