Nagpur, Mar 9 (ANI): BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain, on Sunday said that the Congress mired in corruption was diverting attention of people from such issues and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal was helping the party. Addressing a news conference in Nagpur Hussain lashed out at Kejriwal, calling him an agent of Congress party.

AK Antony just passing time: Bharat Verma

New Delhi, March 09 (ANI): Defence Expert Bharat Verma on Sunday said that naval accidents are happening due to defects in equipment manufacturing and that Defence Minister AK Antony was just passing his time and doing nothing about the issue. A civilian worker was killed and two were injured in an accident at the under-construction nuclear submarine at the shipbuilding centre of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam on Saturday evening. On Friday a Navy officer was killed in an accident on the yet to be commissioned Kolkata class destroyer that is currently undergoing trials in Mumbai after a malfunction in its fire fighting system. Two weeks ago, two officers were killed in a fire aboard a Navy submarine INS Sindhuratna, which had been refitted and was being sea tested.

LS polls: Politicos react as MM Joshi questions Rajnath over Varanasi seat

New Delhi/ Nagpur, Mar 9 (ANI): A month ahead of Lok Sabha polls, the internal strife within the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) came out in open when the party announced its second list of candidates in a meeting. During the meeting which was attended by BJP's top brass, senior party leaders Sushma Swaraj and Murli Manohar Joshi questioned party president Rajnath Singh for allegedly trying to force Joshi out of Varanasi. Sources present at the party meeting said that Varanasi parliamentary seat was a major point of contention in the meeting. Joshi, the sitting MP from Varanasi asked Rajnath to make clear whether the Varanasi seat be given to him or not. Reacting on the same, NCP Leader Tariq Anwar said that the day BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi was projected; there were speculations of disturbance within the party. He also added that Modi has a dictator attitude. Further, Congress Spokesperson Satyavrat Chaturvedi said that Sushma and Advani are worried about the people, who by somehow or the other means want to gain power. Meanwhile, BJP Leader Shahnawaz Hussain said that his party will discuss the matter in a meeting.

Accident at nuclear submarine in Visakhapatnam kills one, injures two, Politicos react

New Delhi, Mar 9 (ANI): One civilian worker was killed and two others were injured on Saturday in an accident at the under-construction nuclear submarine at the shipbuilding centre of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) in Visakhapatnam. The accident reportedly took place on the Aridaman project, the follow on boat of INS Arihant, at the ship building centre in Visakhapatnam while pressure tests were being carried out. An enquiry has been ordered to probe the accident. This comes just a day after a naval officer was killed on Friday in a gas leak on board India's most advanced destroyer ship, the INS Kolkata, while the vessel is under construction at Mumbai's Mazgaon dockyard. Reacting on the same, CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Submarine accidents are a very sensitive issue and politicians should stay away from commenting on it. Further, BJP Leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that someone must take the responsibility of the number of incidents that has taken place within navy. He also added that even after many frequent accidents if the Defense Minister remains silent, it will put a huge question mark in front of the people.

LS Polls: Congress declares 194 candidates in first list

New Delhi, March 09 (ANI): All India Congress Committee (AICC) announced its first list of 194 candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Congress has declared 28 women candidates for the elections which will be held between April 07 and May 12. The party has decided to field Congress President Sonia Gandhi from Rae Bareily and Vice President Rahul Gandhi from Amethi. The nominees also include cricketer Mohammed Kaif, Atal Bihari Vajpayee's niece Karuna Shukla and Justice Hanumanthappa.

Search for missing Malaysia Airlines plane continues

Malaysia, March 09 (ANI): Search operations for a missing Malaysia Airlines flight that vanished from radar screens over the South China Sea with 227 passengers and 12 crew on board continued on Sunday. By the early hours of Sunday, there were no confirmed signs of the plane or any wreckage, well over 24 hours after it went missing. Vietnamese navy ships reached two oil slicks which were spotted earlier, but found nothing. There were no indications of sabotage or claims of an attack too. But the passenger manifest issued by the airline included the names of two Europeans - Austrian Christian Kozel and Italian Luigi Maraldi - who, according to their foreign ministries, were not in fact on the plane. Both the Austrian and Italian men claimed they lost their passports in Thailand two years ago and in 2013 respectively.

Kejriwal hits out at Modi's development claims in Gujarat

Ahmedabad, March 09 (ANI): Aam Aadmi party chief Arvind Kejriwal attacked BJP’s prime Ministerial candidate and Gujarat Chief minister Narendra Modi's claims of development in Gujarat and said that he has done development works only in favour of corporate houses and betrayed the farmers. Kejriwal further added that there is development in Gujarat but only for the corporate houses and farmers remain in devastated as they have not got any compensation in return of lands.
