BSE closes points 76.38 up on May 22

New Delhi, May 22 (ANI): Trading at the Bombay Stock Exchange today closed 76.38 points up to stand at 24,374.40. At the National Stock Exchange the Nifty closed 23.50 points up to stand at 7,276.40. MCX and Suzlon Energy were among the top gainers of Group A with an increase of 20.00% and 16.24% along with NHPC and Bajaj Finance Limited with an increase of 12.58% and 12.31% respectively, while the top losers of Group A include Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. and Essar Oil with a decrease of 5.82% and 3.24% along with Motherson Sumi and Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Ltd. with a decrease of 3.02% and 2.92% at the close of the markets. The Auto sector is up 12.61 points at 14,334.41 while the banking sector is up 119.89 points at 17,239.64 and the realty sector is up 101.61 points at 1,936.21. The Indian currency is up 0.48% at Rs 58.50 per dollar.

Campaigning for Traffic Police, Sachin Tendulkar distributes helmets to women

Chandigarh, May 22 (ANI): In a bid to spread awareness regarding traffic rules and women safety, legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar gave away helmets to girls in Chandigarh. Tendulkar came in support of Traffic Policemen and officials holding traffic awareness signboards and distributed helmets to four women riders while informing them about the importance of following traffic rules. He further added that everyone, especially women, should wear helmets to avoid head injuries and one should always follow the speed limit and never violate traffic rules.

AAP supporters protest in Chennai against Kejriwals judicial custody

Chennai, May 22 (ANI): Supporters of Aam Aadmi Party took to streets and protested in Chennai on Thursday, a day after party chief Arvind Kejriwal was sent to two-day judicial custody. Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody by a court in New Delhi on Wednesday in connection with defamation case filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, after he refused to furnish bond of rupees 10,000 in the case. Gadkari had filed a defamation case on February 18, after Kejriwal called him as one of the most corrupt leaders in his list of 'India's most corrupt'. Meanwhile, AAP workers were detained on Wednesday (May 21) for protesting outside the Tihar Jail complex in New Delhi.

RJD extends outside support to JD (U) in Bihar

New Delhi/ Patna, May 22 (ANI): The RJD in Bihar has extended outside support on Thursday to the current government run by JD (U). JD (U) leader KC Tyagi has said that the support will be welcomed as it is a fight against communal forces. RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav stated that the entire previous election was communalized and this alliance will be a fight against it. He added that this will not be an end to the fight which has begun. Meanwhile, RJD leaders Manoj Jha and Abdul Bari Siddiqui said that RJD will extend outside support to JD (U) as a fight of gaining respect for forces of social justice.
