AAP supporters protest in Chennai against Kejriwals judicial custody

Chennai, May 22 (ANI): Supporters of Aam Aadmi Party took to streets and protested in Chennai on Thursday, a day after party chief Arvind Kejriwal was sent to two-day judicial custody. Kejriwal was sent to judicial custody by a court in New Delhi on Wednesday in connection with defamation case filed against him by BJP leader Nitin Gadkari, after he refused to furnish bond of rupees 10,000 in the case. Gadkari had filed a defamation case on February 18, after Kejriwal called him as one of the most corrupt leaders in his list of 'India's most corrupt'. Meanwhile, AAP workers were detained on Wednesday (May 21) for protesting outside the Tihar Jail complex in New Delhi.

BJP reacts over JD (U)-RJD alliance in Bihar

New Delhi/ Patna, May 22 (ANI): The BJP on Thursday reacted over RJD's support to JD (U) in Bihar. Giriraj Singh said that this support was already there and now both parties are coming together in fear of Narendra Modi to gain power. Nand Kishore Yadav stated that both the parties were already in alliance before election. Dharmendra Pradhan also said that both parties are shocked by the result in General Elections, thus coming together.

RJD extends outside support to JD (U) in Bihar

New Delhi/ Patna, May 22 (ANI): The RJD in Bihar has extended outside support on Thursday to the current government run by JD (U). JD (U) leader KC Tyagi has said that the support will be welcomed as it is a fight against communal forces. RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav stated that the entire previous election was communalized and this alliance will be a fight against it. He added that this will not be an end to the fight which has begun. Meanwhile, RJD leaders Manoj Jha and Abdul Bari Siddiqui said that RJD will extend outside support to JD (U) as a fight of gaining respect for forces of social justice.

Reactions flow in over invitation to Pakistan for attending Modi's swearing-in ceremony

New Delhi/ Pune, May 22 (ANI): Reactions flow in after an invitation was sent to Pakistan for attending swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi for the post of prime minister. Congress leader Manish Tewari said that the same was against the country if done by the UPA government and has become a positive thing for the BJP when they are doing it. NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that though BJP is doing what they used to criticize as opposition party, it's a positive step. Won't leave India: UR Ananthamurthy on getting threatening calls post his anti-Modi remarks

Bangalore, May 22 (ANI): Veteran Kannada writer UR Ananthamurthy on Thursday said that he won't leave the country, after allegedly receiving threatening calls from some BJP workers. He said that Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi needs to take care of the intolerance prevailing in the parivar (RSS). Ananthamurthy said that this is what he was afraid of and that they should not have held on to a small lapse. Ananthamurthy received some unpleasant calls after the BJP-led NDA's victory last week, and has now been provided with police protection, as the former had said that he would not live in a country that is ruled by Narendra Modi, in September last year.

Milind Deora, IUML take aim at Rahul for poll debacle, politicos react

New Delhi, May 22 (ANI): In the first open criticism from within the Congress after the party's disastrous defeat, former union minister Milind Deora took aim at party vice president Rahul Gandhi. Deora said that Rahul Gandhi's advisers did not have their "ears to the ground" and those with "no electoral experience" were "calling the shots", but added that "the people who take the advice also have to bear responsibility". In addition, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) became the first UPA ally to blame Rahul for the rout of the coalition in the Lok Sabha elections. While the BJP refused to comment saying it was the party's internal matter, the Congress and the NCP opposed discussing such issues publicly.

Anandiben Patel takes oath as Gujarat Chief Minister

Gandhinagar, May 22 (ANI): BJP leader and former Gujarat Revenue Minster Anandiben Patel on Thursday took oath as the Chief Minister of Gujarat succeeding PM elect- Narendra Modi. She was administered oath by Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal whose blessings she sought after taking oath. BJP leaders Rajnath Singh and Arun Jaitley along with Narendra Modi, attended Patel's oath- taking ceremony held at Mahatma Mandir in Gujarat's capital Gandhinagar. Post taking oath, Gujarat's first woman CM, Anandiben Patel, received greetings from the other leaders present on the dais. Some members of her council of ministers also took oath today.
