Eight killed as roof collapses in Gurdaspur

Gurdaspur, Sep 06 (ANI): Eight members of a family died due to roof collapse in Dhallan village of Gurdaspur district in Punjab on Saturday. One of the family members has been seriously injured and shifted to a hospital in Amritsar. According to the villagers the family members were geared up for wedding ceremony of their daughter, which was supposed take place just after two days in the house. In the morning, the villagers found about the accident, which took place in the dead of the night. However, no compensation has been announced from the authorities yet, said residents.

Rajnath says BJP won't run govt by horse-trading in Delhi, AAP slams

Allowing BJP to form govt in Delhi will be murder of democracy: Kejriwal

New Delhi, Sep 06 (ANI): A delegation of Aam Admi Party on Saturday met the President to discuss the situation on government formation in Delhi. AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the meeting went quite well and added that the party had put forth a few points before the President. Kejriwal said that none of the three major parties- Congress, BJP and AAP- has sufficient numbers to form government in Delhi and they are not ready to support any other party too. He further said that the LG giving letter to BJP to form government is against Constitution and stated that allowing BJP to form government will be the murder of democracy. Further, Kejriwal said that AAP has requested the President to dissolve the Assembly and allow fresh polls for Delhi.

Situation worsening due to floods, assure all possible help: Omar Abdullah

Jammu, Sep 06 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday said that the state has never witnessed such a flood situation in the past 50 years which is worsening day by day. He said that the priority of the State government is to rescue the people and give them basic care and later think about their rehabilitation. Abdullah also said that he is not bothered about whether the Centre terms it as a 'natural calamity' or not as long as help comes for people. He also thanked the NDRF and Armed Forces for their rescue efforts and assured the people that the State government will leave no stone unturned to protect the people in flood-hit areas.

Congress demands identity of Saradha Chit Fund scam culprits be revealed

Kolkata, Sep 06 (ANI): Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, demanded on Saturday that the identities of the culprits of investment scam, Saradha Chit Fund and other similar companies, be exposed before the nation. Chowdhury, along with other Congress leaders met the governor of West Bengal, Keshari Nath Tripathi and discussed various issues, especially the upcoming bypolls in several locations in the state. He added that Tripathi attentively heard their demands and also jotted down the main issues. Chowdhury also slammed the Bengal administration for not initiating any commerce and industry in the state.

Sukna land case: Lt Gen (retd) PK Rath gets clean chit

Bhubaneswar, Sept 06 (ANI): The Armed Forces Tribunal (AFT) has quashed the court martial of former 33 Corps commander Lieutenant General P K Rath, one of the four generals indicted in the infamous Sukna land scam case that rocked the Army five years ago. The Court imposed. Rs 1 lakh fine on the Army for causing loss of honour to Rath. The Tribunal also blamed the respondents in the case which included former Army chief and current Union minister Gen. VK Singh (retd.) for their acts which resulted in undue harassment and loss of reputation of Rath.

RSS magazine article on 'Love Jihad' receives political reactions

New Delhi/Lucknow/ Nagpur, Seo 06 (ANI): Politicos on Saturday reacted to the controversial publication of love jihad related content in two of the RSS magazines. 'Love jihad' refers to Hindu girls being allegedly converted to Islam after a love marriage. Two RSS magazines have published forceful conversion of Hindu women related content on their front covers. While one cover says "Is love blind or is it business?" the other reads "Love Jihad, reality or rhetoric?" NCP leader Tariq Anwar said that the agenda of RSS is to create terror in the country. SP leader Rajendra Choudhary said that the motive of the RSS behind these publications is to strike communal hatred and discord. Meanwhile, RSS supporter Virag Pachpore said that Love Jihad is a serious issue of concern among all political parties.

Rajnath Singh arrives in Srinagar to take stock of flood situation, announces compensation

Srinagar, Sep 06 (ANI): Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday arrived in Srinagar city of Jammu and Kashmir to take stock of the situation in the flood affected region. Singh couldn't take the aerial survey due to bad weather conditions but state Chief Minister Omar Abdullah drove him in his car to show the damage. Singh assured that the central government will help the state in all possible manners and that it provide all relief whatsoever. Singh also announced compensation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that Modi has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 Lakh for kin of people who died due to the flood and Rs 50,000 for injured.

Politicos react as BJP says it's ready for elections in Delhi

New Delhi, Sep 06 (ANI): Commenting on the possibility of BJP forming a government in Delhi, BJP Delhi President Satish Upadhyay on Saturday said that the BJP is ready for fresh elections even if they are held tomorrow. He said that the people of Delhi will vote for the BJP in the same way that they did during Lok Sabha elections. The Congress and other parties had accused BJP for running away from the elections after Delhi Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung had appealed to the President to give permission to invite the single largest part to form its government. Manish Tewari said that if BJP is ready for the elections then the Governor should recommend the Election Commission that election in Delhi should take place with the rest of the states. NCP Leader, Majid Memon, commenting on the Delhi's political scenario said that since no party can prove its majority until and unless horse trading takes place, hence the best option would be that Delhi goes for polls all over again. CPI leader Atul Anjan, however feels that the reason of this political turmoil is AAP and its leader Arvind Kejriwal who ran away when he was given the power to run the government.

Rajnath Singh conducts aerial survey of flood affected areas in JandK

Onboard/ Jammu, Sept 06 (ANI): Amid the massive disaster created by floods and downpour in Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday took an aerial survey of flood affected areas in the state. Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh accompanied Singh. In Jammu, the authorities closed four bridges connecting two parts of the city after they suffered damage as River Tawi flowed above the danger mark. Authorities had also declared a disaster alert after two days of heavy rain hit villages across the state, causing the worst flooding in two decades. Meanwhile, a flood-affected resident of Jammu said all the belongings in his house have been washed away by the flood water and they were asked by the authorities to evacuate the place.

Hilary Duff claims leaked nude snaps are 'fake'

New Delhi, September 6 (ANI): Hilary Duff has claimed that the naked pictures of her which were leaked online were all fraud. The rep for the 26-year-old actress confirmed that the snaps were fake from neck down as they didn't have the star's birthmarks or tattoos, and they had contacted the FBI to take action and catch the hacker, a leading daily reported. The news comes after nude photos of more than 100 celebrities, including Jennifer Lawrence and Kate Upton, both of whom had confirmed the pictures to be of them, were leaked online.
