Manila, July 17 (ANI): Residents of the Philippine capital Manila set to work clearing debris and reconnecting power on Thursday after a typhoon swept across the country killing 38 people, with at least eight missing. Typhoon Rammasun, the strongest storm to hit the Philippines this year, is heading towards China after cutting a path across the main island of Luzon, shutting down the capital and knocking down trees and power lines, causing widespread blackouts. Workers in Manila cleared out fallen trees blocking the roadside of a state-run university and cleaned the classrooms of a public school which had been used as temporary shelters during the typhoon_s onslaught. Encephalitis kills 25 in West Bengal

Siliguri, July 17 (ANI): Encephalitis syndrome looms large over West Bengal killing around 25 people while 70 others are undergoing treatment in the hospital. In the past few days, the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) near Siliguri under Darjeeling district has been flooded with patients complaining of Encephalitis symptoms. According to health department official at least 100 patients with suspected encephalitis were under treatment at different hospitals across north Bengal, especially in Darjeeling and Jalpaiguri districts. He added that the figure was increasing everyday. Father of an admitted patient, Nirmal Roy said that lots of people have died due to sudden outbreak of fever. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities denied commenting on the death cases. Encephalitis is an acute inflammation of the brain and can be due to both viral and bacterial infections. Japanese encephalitis, which is caused by the Japanese encephalitis virus, is more prevalent in the region than other forms of the illness. Symptoms include high fever, convulsion and frigidity around the neck area. There is no specific treatment for the disease. Jul 17, 2014

New Delhi, July 17 (ANI): There was a massive scare on a Delhi Metro train on Thursday after doors of one of its coaches remained open while it moved between two stations on the Huda City Centre-Jehangirpuri line. According to passengers in the coach, the train coming from Gurgaon started moving even though the doors did not shut at Arjangarh station. The matter was brought to the notice of the driver following which the train was stopped at Ghitorni station for about 15 minutes as officials checked the coach.
