Srinagar, Sep 06 (ANI): Incessant rain disrupted the life of the common man as flood water entered homes and buildings in Kashmir. Authorities declared a disaster alert in the northern region after two days of heavy rain hit villages across the Kashmir valley, causing the worst flooding in two decades. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, said that the floods have so far claimed nearly 100 people, as rivers in the region flow above danger mark due to incessant rains. During a rescue operation, rescuers recovered the bodies of at least 50 members of a wedding party aboard an ill fated bus that was washed away by flash floods. A local, Farooq Ahmad, told that the administration has not taken concrete steps to drain the flood water out of residential areas. The state's main river Jhelum and its tributaries are flowing several feet above the danger mark.
