SC returns Dadri land to farmers, convicts UP govt of misusing land acquisition power

New Delhi, Sep 16 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Tuesday returned the Dadri land to the farmers, which was taken by the UP government citing public purpose, but was given to Reliance for personal use. The court also convicted the UP government of misusing the land acquisition power in the process. The lawyer in the case said that the SC has stamped on the order and that 1066 farmers affected by the same are happy by the judgement. Sep 16, 2014

Gifted by Indian President, Bodhi' tree sapling gets place in Vietnam's Presidential palace

Vietnam, Sep 16 (ANI): Invoking "common heritage" with Vietnam, Indian President Pranab Mukherjee gifted an offshoot of the holy 'Bodhi' tree to Vietnam counterpart Truong T?n Sang and planted it in Vietnam's Presidential palace after the two leaders finished delegation-level talks and signed seven pacts. The sapling was carried in a small wooden box as a gift to the country and people of Vietnam. It was procured from the Bodh Gaya Temple Management Committee (BTMC) a few days back. India has been traditionally gifting saplings of this gigantic tree to countries it has strong bonds of trust and friendship. Sep 16, 2014

New Delhi, Sept 16 (ANI): A train carrying around 260 Kashmir flood survivors arrived in New Delhi more than a week after the worst deluge hit the heavily militarized and disputed region in 50 years. Most of the flood survivors were daily wage workers from Bihar and Jharkhand. A Kashmir flood survivor, Ram, praised the government and the army for massive relief and rescue operations. This week we take you to the Haldwani City in Uttrankhand where devotees belonging to different communities pay obeisance to sufi saint, Syed Hazrat Jalal Shah. A large number of devotees, including men, women and children throng the annual Urs of Baba to pay rich tributes to saint. During the celebration, people gather around the shrine of Baba and chant hymns to seek blessings. Various rituals, as per Sufi tradition, are also performed here.
