Tibetans-in-Exile expect India to raise their concerns with visiting Chinese President

Dharamshala, Sep 15 (ANI): Tibetans-in-exile from Dharamshala expect Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, to discusss their concerns with Chinese President, Xi Jinping, during his visit to India later this week. A Tibetan-In-Exile, Lobsang Yeshi on Sunday said that the people of Tibet expect that Modi will discuss issues of human right violations inside Tibet with Xi. Xi Jinping is scheduled to visit India between September 17 and 19. Speaker of Tibetan Parliament In-Exile, Penpa Tsering, said that the whole world is undergoing tremendous change politically and in Asia also, now there is a lot of dynamism in terms of country-to-country relations.

Discussion over seats going on, want alliance to remain: Uddhav Thackeray

Mumbai, Sep 15 (ANI): Shiv Sena Chief Uddhav Thackeray, on Sunday, addressed a press conference and said that the discussion over seat distribution is going on with its ally BJP. He added that it won't be appropriate for him to say anything negative regarding seats at this point as discussion is on. Thackeray added that he wanted the alliance to be maintained. BJP has offered equal number of seats to Shiv Sena in Maharashtra Assembly Polls over which Sena has expressed dissatisfaction.

Hungry flood victims look forward to food supply with repaired roads in Kashmir

Rajouri, Sep 15 (ANI): Road repair in Kashmir made rapid progress as people stranded in the flood waters in Rajouri district awaited desperately for access to food and medicine. Authorities of Border Road Organisation (BRO) worked on a war footing to revive the roads damaged by landslide and facilitate communication with the rest of the state. Border Road Organisation and Army with the help of the locals have been working day and night to make temporary arrangement to address the immediate need of the people.

Flood alert issued in four districts of Bihar and Jharkhand

Bihar, Sep 15 (ANI): The Governments of Bihar and Jharkhand have sounded a flood alert in the four districts of Rohtas, Aurangabad, Arwal and Bhojpur following the release of three lakh cusecs of water from the Rihand Barrage after heavy rainfall. According to reports, both governments are keeping a close watch on the evolving situation. The water level in the Sone River is yet to rise to the danger mark. It is expected that the situation may change after the water reaches the Inderpuri Barrage in Rohtas District.

Swedish PM Fredrik Reinfeldt to resign after losing to Left opposition

Sweden, Sep 15 (ANI): Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt concedes his defeat after opposition center-left alliance, led by the Social Democratic Party, beat the incumbent center-right government in the 2014 parliamentary election. Reinfeldt is to resign on Monday after the defeat. He also told supporters in Stockholm late yesterday that he will also step down as leader of the conservative Moderate Party next year. According to Swedish Parliament website, the final election results are expected to come out on September 20 and the newly elected parliament will convene on September 29.

President receives warm welcome on arrival in Vietnam

Vietnam, Sep 15 (ANI): President of India, Pranab Mukherjee, received a warm welcome on arrival at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, on a four-day visit to strengthen bilateral ties. The visit will mark the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. Mukherjee was also given the ceremonial guard of honour. He is scheduled to hold talks with the Vietnam Prime Minister, Nguyen Tan Dung and his counterpart, Truong Tan Sang, on issues of international, regional and bilateral importance. Mukherjee, during the visit, will also gift a sapling of the holy 'Bodhi Tree' to the country to symbolise the strong and growing partnership between India and Vietnam.

Harsh Vardhan visits flood-hit Kashmir, Omar Abdullah assures relief to people

Srinagar, Sep 15 (ANI): Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan visited a relief camp and a hospital to meet flood victims and take stock of the situation in Srinagar. Vardhan said the government has taken a number of steps to prevent water-borne diseases as water recedes from the residential areas. Meanwhile, Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, assured to provide relief and to rescue people stranded in the floods in the valley. Abdullah said paramilitary and defence forces are pressed into service to rescue people stranded on rooftops and to reach them with relief materials including food packets. Meanwhile, Director General (DG) of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), OP Singh, said 23 teams of NDRF have been deployed with boats to carry out rescue operations in flood-hit areas.

Automatic weather observing system inaugurated in flooded Kashmir

New Delhi, Sep 15 (ANI): Minister of State in Prime Minister's Office (PMO) Jitendra Singh inaugurated an automatic weather observing system, which will help forecasting much more accurately and before time than old observation tools, in the flooded Jammu and Kashmir state. Talking about the system, LS Rathore, Director General of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said this new system in Katra, will help visitors know about the weather condition beforehand. A special weather forecast is issued by IMD for Amarnath temple pilgrims during the pilgrimage period and same is made available on the IMD website. This has saved the pilgrims from the vagaries of weather en-route to the temple.

Sikh committee prepares food packets for flood-hit Kashmir

Poonch/ Amritsar, Sep 15 (ANI): The Sikh organisation, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), prepared food packets for the people of flood ravaged Jammu and Kashmir as thousands of families starve. Members of SGPC, the apex religious body of Sikhs, in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir made deep-fried breads and cooking vegetables for the food packets which will be airlifted to Srinagar on Monday. Meanwhile, Deputy Director of Amritsar Airport, Sunil Dutt said 400 tonnes of rice has been sent to Srinagar through the aircrafts of Air Force and they have also initiated a helpline number.

BJP offers equal number of seats to Shiv Sena for polls in Maharashtra

Pune, Sep 15 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) offered equal number of seats to its key ally, Shiv Sena, for state polls in Maharashtra after nearly concluding seat-sharing talks with four smaller parties. Maharashtra goes to polls on October 15. The BJP and its ally are expected to get majority in 288-member house after 15 years of rule by Congress and its ally. However, the Shiv Sena that had contested large number of seats than BJP in the past is not comfortable with the proposal. BJP leader Rajiv Pratap Rudy said they are offering equal number of seats to Shiv Sena and are waiting for the response.

Ananth Kumar calls for introduction to lifestyle diseases in school curriculum

Bhopal, Sep 15 (ANI): Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers, Ananth Kumar, asked the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, to become the first state in the country to introduce a chapter on lifestyle diseases in school curriculum to combat cardiovascular diseases and obesity. The minister, while addressing a gathering at a workshop on echocardiography, emphasised on the need to create awareness about lifestyle diseases among school students. Chouhan, who was also present at the workshop, said they would like to go ahead with the proposal. Kumar said a pharmaceutical park will also come up in Madhya Pradesh.
