Fans celebrate Amitabh Bachchans birthday in unique way

Allahabad/ Bhopal, Oct 11 (ANI): Fans all across India celebrated Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s 72nd birthday with great fervor on Saturday (October 11). The enthusiastic fans in Allahabad city, also the hometown of the actor, said that they wish that their idol celebrates more and more birthdays and he keeps making good films for the people. The fans have formed various fan clubs and committees for their favourite idol. Prayag Service Committee is one of such kind. Gauri Shankar Malviya is another fan who has collected the movies and posters of the megastar in Bhopal. He has formed a committee called Big B Fans Service Committee. Bachchan quit his job as a Calcutta freight broker for films and earned recognition in the 1970s after playing a Dirty Harry-style cop in the ground-breaking movie, 'Zanjeer'. His best-known film, Sholay, ran in Bombay for seven years - turning him into an icon in India.

PM Modi invites ideas on "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao"

New Delhi, Oct 11 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has on the occasion of the international day of the girl child exhorted the people of India to pledge to create an atmosphere for equality for the girl child and to end gender-based discrimination in the country. "On International Day of the Girl Child we celebrate the achievements of our daughters. From the classroom to sports, they shine everywhere. Today let us pledge to create an atmosphere of equality for the girl child. There is no question of any discrimination based on gender," he said. Prime Minister Modi also called for eradication of the menace of female foeticide from the country and invited suggestions from the citizens on "Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao" on the MyGov portal.

Indian Navy prepares for Cyclone Hudhud

Vizag, Oct 11 (ANI): The Indian Navy prepared itself for the Cyclone Hudhud which is expected to hit the coastal areas of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha by Sunday afternoon. Rear Admiral Ajendra B Singh said that 4 ships are standing fully prepared to conquer the effects of the cyclone with rescue material for nearly 5000 people. Threat of cyclone Hudhud halts train services in eastern coast

Visakhapatnam, Oct 11 (ANI): Indian Railways cancelled trains in the eastern coast on Saturday as Cyclone Hudhud approaches with the threat of widespread damage. Thirty seven trains originating from port city Visakhapatnam and Bhubaneshwar or going through either of them, were cancelled for Sunday, when the cyclone is set to hit. Thirty one trains will be diverted through other states. Cyclone Hudhud was about 470 km offshore on Friday, satellite images showed, and was expected to hit land around the key port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday morning. It will also impact the neighbouring Odisha. Passengers are now scared to board trains. Help lines have been set up at various railway stations and emergency and controlling staff have been deployed to meet any contingency. The railways will also coordinate with the State Government and National Disaster Relief Force, if need be. The railways have also guaranteed speedy refunds for passengers whose trains have been cancelled or diverted.
