Indian Muslims prepare traditional vermicelli ahead of Eid festival

Khuldabad, July 22 (ANI): Traditional vermicelli makers worked extra hours in Maharashtra to meet demands of Muslims as Eid-al- Fitr is nearing, which marks the end of holy month of Ramadan. Muslims in India prepare special delicacies made of Vermicelli to serve guests on Eid. In old city of Khuldabad, women workers indulged in making traditional handmade vermicelli. A worker, Kaisaruddin, said Vermicelli making is one of the oldest and traditional works of Khuldabad, which is mainly practiced by women. Sweet vermicelli is a traditional Muslim dish which is eaten during the month of Ramadan. Ramadan is the ninth of 12 months in the Islamic calendar. Ramadan lasts for 29 or 30 days and culminates in the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, tens of millions across the Muslim world make every effort to be more spiritual. Jul 22, 2014

Ganajagoran Mancha recalls horrors of liberation 1971 struggle through cartoon show

Dhaka, July 22 (ANI): The people_s resurgence platform of Bangladesh, Ganajagoran Mancha, organized a cartoon show on Monday to protest against the country_s Islamist party, Jamaat-e-Islami and war criminals accused of genocide during the 1971 liberation struggle. The organizers of the show also demanded death penalty for all the war criminals. One of the organizers of the cartoon show, Al-Noman, slammed Jamaat-e-Islami for supporting the war criminals. Green Brigade plants over one lakh trees in Ludhiana for greener city

Ludhiana, July 22 (ANI): People in Punjab planted 1.25 lakh trees in an attempt to provide green lungs to Ludhiana city and also to achieve a new world record. According to a report by World Health Organisation (WHO), Ludhiana was among the top ten polluted cities in the world. In a bid to make Ludhiana a green city, a non-governmental organisation, ___Sambhav___, a youth leadership training organisation, urged people to plant trees. One of the participants, Davinder Singh Pal, claimed to have broken the world record. The event also witnessed participation of Indian Institute of Architects, Ludhiana Chapter (IIA-LC) along with city___s Mayor. India beat England at Lord's after 28 Years

New Delhi, July 21 (ANI): India clinched their first Test win at the historic Lord's after 28 years after Ishant Sharma took seven wickets for 74 runs in a dramatic post-lunch session at Lord's on Monday. India, thus, took a 1-0 lead in the five-Test series as the first Test at Nottingham ended in a draw. The third Test starts in Southampton on July 27. Skipper MS Dhoni said that the victory was because of team work. Pakistan delegation arrives in Gujarat to study riverfront project

Ahmedabad, July 21 (ANI): A Pakistani delegation arrived on Monday in Gujarat to study Sabarmati Riverfront Development Project to replicate it along River Ravi in Lahore. The four-member delegation visited the riverfront park in Ahmedabad and inquired about technical details of the project that was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was the chief minister of Gujarat. Mumbai, July 21 (ANI): Congress leader and Maharashtra Industries Minister Narayan Rane, who resigned from the state cabinet on Monday, said that he did not see a good future for the Congress in the upcoming elections and that he does not want to be with the losing side. Rane launched a direct attack on Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan and alleged that his faulty style of functioning had led to party's defeat in Lok Sabha polls. The incident in Diamer district of Gilgit-Baltistan raised an alarm over the growing Taliban control in the region. The people of Gilgit Baltistan are stunned by rising incidents of violence perpetrated by the Taliban. Earlier, armed extremists also massacred Shia bus passengers in Chilas and Kohistan to create sectarian strife in Gilgit Baltistan. Gilgit Baltistan is predominantly a Shia majority region. However, sectarianism was cultivated by Pakistan in the late 1980s as a negative force to change the demographic reality of Gilgit Baltistan.
