Bad weather not expected in Odisha, rainfall may occur at some places: IMD

Bhubaneshawar, Oct 13 (ANI): The Director of Bhubaneshwar unit of Indian Meteorological Department, SC Sahu said on Monday that the cyclone Hudhud which hit the coasts of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha on Sunday will decrease in intensity. Sahu said that bad weather is not expected in Odisha, although rainfall may occur in some internal pockets. He also said that rainfall will gradually decrease in South West parts of Odisha.

Politicos say Pak 'playing old game'as it writes to UN asking to intervene on Kashmir issue

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Monday said that Pakistan is 'playing its same old game'after Nawaz Sharif's foreign affairs adviser Sartaj Aziz wrote to United Nations asking to intervene in Kashmir issue. BJP said that Pakistan is doing what it has been doing on facing a defeat and that is, to internationalize the issue. Party leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that Indian government will continue to retaliate if Pakistan does not budge from its activities on international border. Meanwhile, Congress and CPI leaders also condemned the letter and said that Pakistan should check on its activities before blaming India. Addressing a letter to UN secretary general Ban Ki-moon, Aziz Aziz said UN had an important role in the peaceful resolution of the "core" issue of JandK and that UNMOGIP, described by India as a tool of a bygone era, needed to be strengthened under the circumstances.

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political leaders on Sunday react as Narendra Modi government is to formalize code of conduct for Members of Parliament and state legislators. The government is seeking to avoid the kind of problems that had stalled the functioning of Parliament during the last months of the UPA II government by these measures. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that it is good if the government wants to bring in some code of conduct but it should be acceptable to all the legislators. Meanwhile, CPI leader Atul Anjan said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should first keep a check on their corrupt and convicted leaders and then come to formalize andy code of conduct for the parliamentarians.

Politicos react after police constables shot dead in national capital

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after a police constable was killed and another seriously injured after they were shot at by three unidentified people, near a police station at Rohini's Vijay Vihar area in the capital. Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyaya said that the issue is of great concern and strong investigation should be carried out in the matter. Politicos react as Sharad Pawar talks of referendum on Vidarbha

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): Political reactions flowed on Monday after NCP Chief Sharad Pawar talked of a referendum on the separate state of Vidarbha, carved out of Maharashtra. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that there should be no place for referendum in democracy regarding division of states. Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that all work should be done within the constitutional limits and placing a referendum does not come within it. Meanwhile, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said that when Congress and NCP were in power they did not do anything for the state's development and now when it is time for accountability they are coming up with election stunts. Ahead of Maharashtra polls, NCP Chief Sharad Pawar had said that the Election Commission should hold a referendum in the Vidarbha region over demand for a separate state. He had also said that NCP will respect the separate Vidarbha verdict if it gets majority vote.

Cyclone Hudhud hammers Vizag before lashing heavy rains in Jharkhand

Ranchi, Oct 13 (ANI): After leaving at least five people dead and a trail of destruction in the port city of Visakhapatnam and adjoining districts of Odisha, rains lashed Jharkhand in the wake of Cyclone Hudhud, after it made landfall earlier on Sunday. Cyclone Hudhud blasted eastern seaboard with gusts of up to 195 km per hour (over 120 mph), uprooting trees, damaging buildings and killing at least five people despite a major evacuation effort. Visakhapatnam was hammered as the cyclone made landfall, unleashing the huge destructive force it had sucked up from the warm waters of the Bay of Bengal. Most people heeded warnings to take refuge, but five were killed by falling trees and masonry, and thousands of homes were damaged, emergency officials said. Strong winds and heavy rains lashed Jharkhand on Sunday night because of which electric poles and trees were destroyed in the interior of the state. Heavy rains also caused destruction in the capital city of Ranchi.

Unidentified men opened fire at Delhi police killing one and injuring other in Vijay Vihar

New Delhi, Oct 13 (ANI): A police constable was killed and another seriously injured after they were shot at by three unidentified people, near a police station at Rohini's Vijay Vihar area in early hours on Monday. According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vikramjeet Singh, the policemen tried to stop three men who were travelling in an autorickshaw, following which the men opened fire at the constables, hitting one in the chest and the other in the back. The constable who was hit in the chest died. Meanwhile, the three attackers managed to flee from the spot. The constable with serious injury is undergoing treatment in a hospital. The police are investigating the matter. Moreover, the Delhi Police's crime branch and special cell have been roped in to probe the case

Tigress kills 10 year old boy in Uttar Pradesh

Bijnor, Oct 13 (ANI): A ten-year-old boy was killed by a man-eater tigress in Uttar Pradesh, said a forest official. The big cat attacked him when the boy was playing near his house in Bijnor district. After hearing the screams, parents of the boy attacked the animal with sticks after which it fled in the forest area. However, the boy died due to severe bleeding. Depletion of their habitat has also threatened the wild animals, forcing them to stray into human settlements - attacking people, poultry birds and livestock cattle - and often getting killed in return.

At least 22 school children injured in bus accident in Jaipur

Jaipur, Oct 13 (ANI): At least 22 school children were injured when a bus carrying them turned turtle in Jaipur, said a senior police officer. The accident happened when the bus carrying 57 children for a picnic on the outskirts of city of Jaipur tumbled. No causalities have been reported till now but condition of three children is critical. Deputy Superintendent of Police, Karan Singh, said the cause of accident was under investigation. The children were admitted to nearby hospital. The children belonged to Maharshi Gautam Vidyapeeth school.
