Bus Accident kills at least 14 in Himachal Pradesh

Chamba, Nov 02 (ANI): At least 14 people were killed and 11 others injured after a bus fell into a gorge in Chamba district of Himachal Pradesh. The private bus carrying 25 people was on its way to Himri in Saluni region when the driver lost control over the wheel and it fell into 100 feet deep gorge. While 12 people died on the spot, two others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Road and rail accidents are common in India, where rickety infrastructure and weak law enforcement struggle to cope with a surge in traffic and floods of unlicensed drivers.

Congress issues statement over Robert Vadra, says whole episode propagated for political agenda

Kaithal, Nov 02 (ANI): Congress on Sunday issued statement over Robert Vadra's misbehaviour with a reporter from ANI. Blaming media for Vadra's behaviour, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said unpleasantness of repeatedly asking questions at any private functions must be avoided by media at all times. He said that deliberate hounding of individuals on issues that are already conclusively settled and rejected by constitutional bodies must stop. Further, he also referred to some incidents where then Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had thrown the mic and had later walked out of a pre fixed interview. He also alleged that the entire episode was propagated for political agenda. Surjewala also requested media to 'respect social mores and privacy of individuals in this age of professional competition'.

Bhopal /Nagpur / Kanpur, Nov 2 (ANI): Common man hailed India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initiative to reach out to millions of Indians through his on air radio speech touching upon various social issues. Twitter and tech-savvy Modi on Sunday turned to the country's oldest radio station for the second time since he came to power in May to reveal his thoughts on issues of national import. His voice was heard in the farthest Himalayan hamlets as also in the most distant deserts through his 'Mann Ki Baat’ talk.

Indore, Nov 02 (ANI): Senior Journalist Ved Pratap Vaidik on Sunday said that Robert Vadra's behaviour with a journalist was totally objectionable. He said that any journalist does not come to attack but to acquire information and reacting in such a way as Vadra did was not at all right in any way. Vaidik said that by behaving in such a way one proves that there is something surly wrong on his side. He further said that sue to this behaviour, Priyanka Gandhi and Congress President Sonia Gandhi's image also gets tarnished. Vadra snapped at a reporter from ANI and pushed away the mic after he was asked for a comment on an impending probe into his company's land deals in Haryana.

Half marathon in Visakhapatnam celebrates spirit of people

Visakhapatnam, Nov 02 (ANI): Thousands of people converged in port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday (November 02) and took part in half marathon organised to salute the spirit of people who showed strength during cyclone Hudhud. Cyclone Hudhud had slammed into the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha last month, killing 41 people and tearing down tens of thousands of mud-and-thatch homes. Meanwhile, the half-marathon, organised by the Indian navy, celebrated the courage of people who rose above the storm and returned to normal lives. Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command, Vice Admiral Satish Soni, said that the half marathon marked the spirit of Visakhapatnam, known to locals as Vizag. The funds generated from the run will be used for rehabilitation work and a part of it will also go to an orphanage. The marathon was categorized under 20 km run, 10 km run and five km walk.

Raj Thackeray meets Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai, Nov 02 (ANI): Maharashtra Navanirman Sena Chief Raj Thackeray on Sunday paid a courtesy visit to Maharashtra’s newly elected Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. In the short meeting, Thackeray said he raised various issues including increasing the minimum support price of sugarcane and development of tourism industry in the State. He also sought a detailed probe of the grisly murders of three members of a Dalit family in Ahmednagar. Curfew in Kashmir ahead of Muharram processions

Srinagar, Nov 02 (ANI): The state government in Jammu and Kashmir, on Sunday (November 02), imposed curfew in several parts of the region ahead of Muharram processions. Security personnel manned the streets in main city of Srinagar to prevent any mishap. Since 1989, Muharram processions have been banned in Srinagar after a pro-independence revolt started in Kashmir. Only small mourning rallies and processions are allowed in selected areas with limited Shi’ite populations. Every year, Muslims mourn the tragedy of Karbala on the occasion of Moharram.
