JP Nadda seeks report over blinding of 16 people in Punjab eye camp

New Delhi/Amritsar, Dec 5 (ANI): Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Friday sought report from Punjab government over the blinding of 16 people in an eye camp. As many as 16 patients lost their eyesight after a doctor used suspected infected equipment at a free eye surgery camp, organised by a NGO in Gurdaspur district. Nadda assured Punjab government to render any help from the central government. Reacting over the incident, state Medical Education Minister Anil Joshi said that organisers had no permission to conduct an eye camp. Meanwhile, the Punjab health department has constituted a medical team to record the statement of victims in hospital in northern Amritsar city. Dec 5, 2014

New Delhi, Dec 5 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Friday after at least 14 people lost their vision after cataract surgery at an eye camp organized in by an NGO in Gurdaspur district of Punjab. BJP leader Shrikant Sharma said the incident is very unfortunate and the culprits should be given punishment. Experts say militants attacking to disrupt polls in Kashmir

New Delhi/Bhopal, Dec 5 (ANI): Security and Defence experts, on Friday (December 05), said militants were carrying out frequent attacks in Jammu and Kashmir to disrupt assembly polls in the region. Five members of the security forces were killed in a suicide attack on an army artillery camp in Kashmir early on Friday as militants stepped up violence in the disputed region near the border with Pakistan, officials said. Qamar Agha said Pakistan was desperate to promote Islamic militancy in the state. Hundreds of Kashmiri youth attend Indian army recruitment rally

Budgam, Dec 05 (ANI): Hundreds of youth, on Friday attended an army recruitment rally in Jammu and Kashmir. Around 9,000 youths participated in the rally, which was held in Budgam district. On the final day of the recruitment rally, written examination was conducted. After physical and medical tests, only 540 were allowed to give the written exam. A local youth, Mushtaq Ahmed, said employment was a major reason for them to attend the rally. A recruitment officer, Brigadier Adil Mehmood, said this recruitment rally gave employment opportunities in the valley, which was hit by devastating floods in September. Unemployment is a major issue in the conflict-torn region of Kashmir. During the election rallies in the poll-bound state, every political party has promised youth of employment. Dec 5, 2014
