Kiran Bedi prepares langar in Krishna Nagar gurudwara

New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): BJPs chief ministerial candidate Kiran Bedi, who ended her campaigning in her constituency of Krishna Nagar in east Delhi on Thursday, said she will spend her entire day with BJP workers today. She said that she will celebrate this evening with party workers. Even as Delhi is all set to go to polls tomorrow, Bedi visited a gurudwara in Krishna Nagar constituency and prepared 'langar'. She also offered prayers at the gurudwara along with party workers. Bedi had said she was "confident" that her party will win the polls. Counting of votes will take place on February 10. Feb 6, 2015

Metro services to start at 4 AM on polling day in Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): The Delhi Metro will start operations at 4 AM on Saturday to enable voters to reach their respective polling booths to exercise their franchise to elect 70 members to the Delhi Assembly. A Delhi Metro release said that the trains will run at intervals of 30 minutes till 5:30 AM on all its lines. Thereafter, it said frequency would increase and trains will start running as per the normal schedule after 5:30 AM. Announcements in this regard are being made in the trains as well as on station premises. The Election Commission has been carrying out an awareness campaign with people commuting on the Delhi Metro with an aim to encourage them to vote in the assembly polls. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation is also scrolling voter awareness messages on display screens installed in train coaches. The disease has killed 191 people in the country in January alone with Telangana being worst hit. So far 2,038 people have been afflicted by the virus. Swine flu is caused by H1N1 virus. New Delhi, Feb 06 (ANI): Nobel laureate and child rights activist Kailash Satyarthi warned that children end up bearing the brunt of natural calamities caused by climate change as families get displaced, they are forced into child labour, prostitution and child trafficking. Satyarthi was speaking at the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit (DSDS) in the national capital. The DSDS, which is a global platform for experts to hammer out goals for 2015 climate talks, aims at discussing sustainable development goals with emphasis on energy and environment and clean energy for all. Thousands of children, mostly from poor rural areas, are taken to the country's cities every year by trafficking gangs who sell them into bonded labour or hire them out to unscrupulous employers, promising to send their parents their wages. Meanwhile, Chairman of UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Rajendra Pachauri said that the job of child rights activists like Satyarthi was only going to get infinitely more difficult with the impact of climate change. Fabius met Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar and said that major issues between the two countries needed to be tackled before the conference. Earlier in the day, Fabius attended the annual sustainable development summit and said that a global deal to curb carbon emissions must recognise each country's right to develop. He had said efforts to reach an agreement would fail if any country believed it would hurt their economic prospects.
