English batsman Jos Buttler continued his red-hot form with a 94 not out as Rajasthan Royals thumped Mumbai Indians by seven wickets here on Sunday to boost their chance of qualifying for the Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs. After Mumbai posted 168/6, thanks to opening batsmen Suryakumar Yadav (60) and Evin Lewis, Buttler registered his fifth consecutive fifty, which contained five sixes and nine fours, to guide his team to seven-wicket victory with two overs to spare. Buttler batted through the innings to help Rajasthan overhaul a stiff 177-run target with just one ball to go. He remained unbeaten on 95 runs off just 60 balls, hitting 11 boundaries and a couple of sixes along the way. Despite the defeat, CSK continue to hold on to the second spot with 14 points from 11 matches. They trail league leaders Sunrisers Hyderabad by four points. Rishabh Pant's valiant century went in vain as Sunrisers Hyderabad made light work of Delhi Daredevils' challenging 187/5 to romp home by nine wickets and consolidate their stay at the top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table. The visitors overcame the early loss of opener Alex Hales (14) as the other opener Shikhar Dhawan (92 not out off 50 balls; 4x9, 6x4) and skipper Kane Williamson (83 not out off 53 balls; 4x8, 6x2) stitched together a 176-run second stand to demoralise bottom-placed Delhi's spirited effort midway into the match. With the loss, Delhi's hopes of reaching the play-off are up in the smoke and can now only play the party spoilers in the cash-rich tournament. Returning to his home ground, Dhawan started the chase by slamming pacer Harshal Patel for a boundary through point even as Williamson continued his glorious run with the willow this season.

The win, Mumbai's third on the spin, took Rohit Sharma and Co. level on points with Kolkata (10 points from 11 games) and fourth in the points table courtesy a better net run rate. Mumbai, who remain in the reckoning for the play-offs, have now won 18 times, and eighth on the row, in 23 meetings with Kolkata. Coming to Ishan, the Jharkhand left-hander's pyrotechnics between the 10th and 15th over fetched Mumbai 73 runs as they posted a mammoth 210/6. In reply, Kolkata were shot out for 108 in 18.1 overs. An impressive show by Rajasthan Royals' bowlers kept the side alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they defeated Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) by 15 runs at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium here on Tuesday. It was the host's bowlers, who helped their side defend a moderate 158 run total against the third-placed Punjab side. Despite hunting a chaseable total, seven of the Punjab batsman didn't even touched the double digits and it was only their opener Lokesh Rahul, who single handedly fought till the last ball of the match, slamming an unbeaten 95 off 70 balls, laced with 11 fours and couple of sixes. Chasing the target, Punjab were off to a poor start as off-spinner Krishnappa Gowtham struck twice in the second over to pack back a dangerous Chris Gayle (1) and skipper Ravichandran Ashwin (0) with the visitors managing to reach just 14 runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad consolidated their stay atop the Indian Premier League (IPL) points table with yet another brilliant defence of a meagre total, that saw them pip struggling Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by five runs here at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday. This was the Orange Army's eighth win from 10 matches and look on course for the play-offs with already 16 points in their kitty. The win takes Punjab to third spot with 12 points in nine matches while Rajasthan, who faced their third consecutive defeat, are tottering at the bottom of the table with six points in nine matches. With this loss, Rajasthan's chances of qualifying for the play-offs are over. Chasing 152/9, Rahul's 54 ball knock, comprising seven boundaries and three sixes, helped Punjab chased down the target in 18.4 overs. Right from the start, opener Rahul cleared his intentions, slamming bowlers all around the park. Chris Gayle (8) and Mayank Agarwal (2), however, could support Rahul at the other end but Karun Nair (31) contributed handsomely. Rahul and Nair forged 50-run partnership for the third wicket before Nair was dismissed by Anureet Singh in the 11th over.

The Rohit Sharma-led side, which is now placed fifth in the league points table with four wins from 10 games, delivered a good show in both the batting and bowling departments at home against third-placed Kolkata, who have 10 points from the same number of games. After putting up a challenging 181/4, Mumbai's disciplined bowling restricted Kolkata to 168/6 to keep themselves alive in the tournament. Mumbai will now need to win all their remaining four games if they want to be in the top four at the end of the league stage. A 91-run opening partnership followed by Hardik Pandya's quickfire cameo in the middle order propelled Mumbai to post a challenging 181/4.

Following the win over seventh-placed Delhi, Hyderabad have 14 points - same as Chennai Super Kings but are ahead on net run rate. For Delhi, the loss could mean that their hopes for making it to the playoffs are over as they have six points from 10 games.

IPL 2018: Sunrisers Hyderabad regain top spot after beating Delhi Daredevils by 7 wickets

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a heavy weather of a small total before captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni did his famous finishing act to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by six wickets and virtually seal their place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) play-offs here on Saturday, needing just one more win in five matches. RCB, on the other hand, are virtually out of the race for the play-offs. They are currently on six points and have to win all their five remaining matches, which is a big ask for the off-colour unit. The Chennai are sitting pretty on top of the table with 14 points from 10 matches. They have won seven of those matches while losing three. The Chennai team, which has a reputed batting line-up, were expected to acomplish the job quite easily. But the team put themselves under pressure in the slog overs before skipper Dhoni smashed three sixes off RCB's star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal to take his side across the line in the 18th over.
