Anis Amri, the suspect in the Berlin Christmas market truck attack, has been shot dead by Italian police on 23 December. Italys interior minister Marco Minniti told a news conference that without any shadow of a doubt the man was the 24-year-old Tunisian, and that he died in a shootout with police in a Milan suburb. Swaleside prison riot: Footage from inside prison as 60 inmates take control of wing

A prison wing at HMP Swaleside, Kent, was taken over by 60 inmates on 22 December. Inmates took control of a wing of the Category B training prison on the Isle of Sheppey, before specialist Tornado teams were sent in to quash the riot.
