Ludhiana runs for Dil ki Daud marathon

Ludhiana, Sep 28 (ANI): On the occasion of World Heart Day, a hospital in Ludhiana held a marathon with the aim of motivating people to run daily in order to maintain a healthy heart and body. On Sunday around 2500 people, including leading professionals, athletes, senior citizens, patients and doctors from Amritsar, Jammu, Chandigarh and other nearby regions participated in the marathon. Floods and sand deposits ruin farmer s crops in Amritsar

Amritsar, Sep 28 (ANI): Sand deposits left by the flooded river Ravi in fields leaves farmers’ crops damaged in Amritsar district of Punjab. Heavy rainfalls over-flooded the river on the border belt of Dera Baba Nanak and Ajnala sector, burring thousand acres of land. Farmers living in the area cultivate around 10,000 acres of fertile land which has been rendered useless for two to four years because of the sand deposits left by the river. A farmer Major Manmohan Singh said that his entire crop has been damaged. Reportedly, the farmers are asking for government’s help in removing the sand from their fields and provide electricity connections for tube wells so that the affected agricultural land could be made fit for cultivation. Grenade Blast At Amway Head Office In Imphal

Mantripukhri, Sep 28 (ANI): The Amway office located near the NRL Oil Pump in Mantripukhri under Heingang Police Station witnessed a hand grenade explosion. There were two grenade attacks, out of which one grenade exploded on top of the Amway head office. The officers of Heingang police along with senior police personnel rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation. No casualties were reported in the explosion. Dinesh Kumar Rampal, a local resident said that similar blasts have happened twice in the last few days. New Delhi/ Mumbai, Sep 28 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Sunday after a City Special Court on Saturday convicted AIADMK chief J.Jayalalithaa guilty in Disproportionate Asset case and sentenced her with a four year rigorous jail term as well as fined her with Rs 100 crore. BJP leader Muktar Abbas Naqvi said that the court has taken a decision but Jayalalithaa can still approach the High Court. Congress leader Rashid Alvi said that when the political leaders who hold any constitutional position are convicted in the corruption cases, the people tend to lose trust from the leaders.
