Security arrangements and traffic management in place ahead of PM Modi's 'Abhinandan Rally'

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): Security was tightened around the Ramlila Ground on Saturday in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally at the venue in the national capital. The Delhi Traffic Police have also made elaborate arrangements to ensure the smooth movement of traffic. Modi is to address "Abhinandan Rally" which will be attended by around 1 lakh people. PM will formally kick off BJP's campaign for the upcoming Delhi Assembly polls on Saturday at the mega rally. Top leaders including BJP president Amit Shah, Union ministers Arun Jaitely, M Venkaiah Naidu and Piyush Goyal will attend the rally. Besides, chief ministers of Haryana, Jharkhand and Maharashtra will share the dais with the prime minister. The traffic police has advised commuters going to New Delhi Railway Station, Old Delhi Railway Station and ISBT to start early with sufficient time in hand for absorbing possible delays in the routes. France attacks prompted by insults to prophets, says purported Al-Qaeda leader

New Delhi, Jan 10 (ANI): An audio recording posted on the Internet attributed to a leader of the Yemeni branch of Al-Qaeda (AQAP) said the attacks in France were prompted by insults to prophets but stopped short of claiming responsibility for the assault on the offices of French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. The authenticity of the audio could not immediately be verified. The voice in recording was purported to be that of Sheikh Hareth al-Nadhari. A Yemeni journalist who specialises in al Qaeda said it was clear that AQAP had provided a "spiritual inspiration" for the attack on the newspaper offices, but there was no clear sign that it was directly responsible for the assault. Kolkata, Jan 10 (ANI): An Indian court sent six accused for gang raping a 23-year-old Japanese student to jail till January 16 for further interrogation, said defence counsel in Kolkata. Kolkata police busted a racket of tour guides, who duped Japanese students and tourists. Three tour guides lured a Japanese student and took her to Gaya city of Bihar, where they were joined by three more people, and then gang-raped her and looted her of rupees 25,000 (USD 395.44). The Japanese tourist alleged that she was raped on November 23, 2014 and a complaint was filed on November 26 in Kolkata city. Kokrajhar, Jan 10 (ANI): In a joint operation, police and army arrested seven militants and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunitions in connection with attacks in Assam , which killed at least 80 people. Police believe that a faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB), fighting for a separate state for ethnic Bodos, was behind coordinated attacks on tea plantation workers and their families in Assam. Sub-divisional police officer, Kokrajhar district, Ankur Jain said that seven militants were arrested of (NDFB). Rajouri, Jan 10 (ANI): Residents and traders who are dependent on the historic Mughal road linking Jammu to the Kashmir valley are facing discomfort after authorities closed it off. The road which is 170 kilometers long, links Shopian in Kashmir Valley with Poonch in Jammu region. The traffic police in the region say the harsh cold weather has become a hazard for vehicles to ply on the road. But residents claim that the road is clear and are angry at the authorities for closing off a source of their livelihood. People now have to take a longer alternative route to reach Jammu from the Kashmir valley which is about 450 kilometers long. The government has funded more than 6 billion rupees for the project.
