Odisha continues to reel under harsh conditions as flooded rivers refuse to recede

Bargarh, Aug 09 (ANI): The flood situation in Odisha remained grim as several rivers continued to flow above the danger mark due to incessant rainfall. Head of a village Panchayat Sudhir Pradhan said that the government does not take any concrete steps and they have to face this situation time and again. More than 35 people have died in Odisha since rivers burst their banks, inundating villages and farmland and forcing around 60,000 people to seek refuge in relief camps. Director General of Police reviews security measures in red corridor of Odisha

Bhubaneshwar. Aug 09 (ANI): Director General of Police, Sanjeev Marik, visited Malkangiri district in Odisha on Saturday to review the security measures and suggest new strategies for anti-Maoist operations in the area. Marik met the chiefs of Border Security Force (BSF) and the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) to discuss new strategies. Marik is a recently appointed DGP and after taking over this responsibility this was his first visit to Odisha. He said that they are trying to analyze their weaknesses and strengths so that strategies could be set accordingly to intensify anti Maoist operations. The strategy of Maoists is that they operate in two-three states at the same time. Maoists commit a crime in one zone and shift their base to another so that there is no pressure on them.
