EC announces LS election dates; Congress, BJP set for battle

New Delhi, March 05 (ANI): As the Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls, the Congress and the BJP both exuded confidence saying that people will choose their leaders wisely. Polling will begin on 7 April in six constituencies, up until 12 May in nine days. Counting will be on 16 May.

Police gun down two Maoists in encounter in Odisha

Koraput, Mar 5 (ANI): Police killed two Maoists in an encounter in a forest area near Pottangi in Koraput district of Odisha, and recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from them. Inspector General of Police (IGP) (south-western range), Yashbant Jethwa said that rebels opened fire at the security forces who were on a routine combing operation and in retaliation, the security forces also opened fire in which the Maoists were killed. The other Maoists fled the area, leaving behind the bodies of their slain comrades. Maoists are rebels who try to sink deep roots and form links after decades of neglect. Equipped with weaponsthe Maoists want to cripple economic activity. Security personals of late are coming down heavily upon the left wing extremists, denting their confidence and spreading the fear of law.

UP doctors strike intensifies, political parties call it unfortunate

Jagdish Tytler files nomination from N-E Delhi, politicos condemn

New Delhi/ Ahmedabad/ Ludhiana, March 05 (ANI): Politicos, on Wednesday condemned Former MP Jagdish Tytler, after he filed his nomination for Northeast Delhi Lok Sabha seat under primaries project. New Delhi, March 05 (ANI): The Election Commission on Wednesday announced the schedule for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls. The model code of conduct prevents the government from making any decisions that can be seen as influencing voters. It also prohibits political parties from making unsubstantiated allegations against opponents. CEC VS Sampath announced that there will be 9 poll days starting from April 07 and counting of LS polls will take place on May 16.
