Shimla, Feb 15 (ANI): Unexpected fresh snowfall for the second day on Saturday in Himachal Pradesh drew delighted tourists from neighbouring states. As far as the eyes could see, trees, roads, rooftops in the mountainous regions were covered with snow. As the higher reaches received fresh snow for the last 12 hours, the temperature in the hilly region plummeted several notches below freezing point. Congress leader on hunger strike over demand for dead bodies of missing tribals in Odisha

Bhubaneshwar, Feb 15 (ANI): A Congress leader is observing an indefinite hunger strike outside the Governor’s house in Bhubhaneshwar, over a demand for the return of dead bodies of missing tribals, who have allegedly died in police custody. Speaking to media persons the leader, Pradeep Majhi, claimed that he has information that four tribal men of the five who were arrested a few years ago by the Malkangiri district police under charges of supporting Maoists, were dead. Majhi, along with the family members of the missing tribals and various other supporters from Malkangiri and other surrounding tribal districts, went on an indefinite hunger strike three days ago. The sister of one of the missing tribals, Phulmati, said that the authorities were paying no heed to their grievances.

Militancy under control in Kashmir so far, says officer

Srinagar, Feb 15 (ANI): Indian security forces have been able to control militancy so far in Jammu and Kashmir due to stepped up activities and vigil, said a senior CRPF officer. Inspector General of CRPF, Pankaj Kumar Singh however added that an intelligence report has indicated that militancy would increase in 2014. Singh said as a result of security measures, no major militancy related incidence has taken place in the state so far. Two militants were killed during a fierce gun battle with security forces in Shopian district on Thursday.
