New Delhi, March 30 (ANI): Following Former JD (U) Leader Sabir Ali’s membership cancelled by BJP after Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi alleged Ali’s links with Yasin Bhatkal, his wife Yasmin Ali said that Naqvi should either write an apology letter or prove the allegations within 24 hours or else she will protest outside his house. Maoists in Bastar threaten people to boycott general elections

Bastar, Mar 30 (ANI): As India prepares for mammoth general elections that are just a week away, Maoists in ‘red corridor’ of Bastar district of Chhattisgarh held a Jan Adalat on Saturday (March 29), asking villagers to boycott polls. The red rebels held a rally in the dense forests of the region and threatened not to vote. Not only the villagers, the politicians and candidates are also under the constant threat of Maoists, who are braving the situation and are working to encourage people to vote. A big challenge being faced by security officials is the holding of polls without any troubles or disruptions. The Maoists say they are fighting for the rights of millions of landless tribal people. Apart from prisoner releases, the Maoists have also demanded an end to tourism in parts of the state where many tribes exist. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has previously described the Maoist insurgency as India's biggest internal security challenge.

Three-day Cultural Dance Fest in Manipur

Imphal, March 30 (ANI): The three day cultural dance festival - Chhau Parva is drawing large audience to the Imphal city of Manipur. The festival is being held for the first time in the province and has been organized by the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, National Academy of Music, Dance and Drama in association with Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur dance Academy of Manipur. The Director of Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy (JNMDA) Upendro Sharma explained what Chhau dance form is all about. The festival was inaugurated by the Governor of Manipur Vinod Kumar Duggal in the presence of Vice Chairman of JNMDA N Tombi Singh and Director Sharma himself. The festival was kick started on Saturday with six dance performances.

Bangladesh celebrates its 43rd Independence Day

Dhaka, Mar 30 (ANI): Bangladesh celebrated its 43rd independence day in a grand, memorable and historic manner. More than 2 hundred thousand people from various walks of life including Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina came together in Dhaka to collectively sing the national anthem ‘Aamar Sonar Bangla’. On 26 March 1971 the independence of Bangladesh was declared by the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Liberation War began. The people of the country are now seeking a ban on the Jamaat-e-Islami for its involvement in crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War. The young generation in Bangladesh clearly wants a government and a society that promotes pluralistic Bengali culture not hatred. Progressive Bangladeshis believe that continuing to allow the Jamaat to participate in political activism is an abuse of the very principles on which Bangladesh was formed.
