Beas tragedy: Three more bodies found

Mandi, June 23 (ANI): Almost two weeks after 24 visiting students from an engineering college in Hyderabad and a tour operator were washed away in the Beas river, three more bodies were recovered, taking the total number of bodies retrieved to 16. College staff was present at the spot and identified the recovered bodies.

Centre appeals to militant outfits to shun violence after a police officer killed in Assam

Assam, June 23 (ANI): Nitya Nanda Goswami, the Superintendent of Police, of Hamren police district was leading an operation against the insurgent outfit in remote Rongthang forest area where they came face-to-face with the militants. The police team retaliated and in the ensuing encounter, Goswami and his personal security guard were killed. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju and Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi visited Karbi Anglong to pay tribute slain Superintendent of Police and his personal security guard. Their last rights were performed with full state honour. The police force and top officials paid floral tributes and gave them a guard of honor with gun salute. Saddened by the incident, the Kiren Rijiju appealed to militant outfits to give up arms and join the mainstream.

BSF organizes 2-day cleft surgery camp in Tripura

Agartala, June 23 (ANI): India's paramilitary Border Security Force (BSF) is making efforts to bring smile to the faces of children with cleft lips and palates by organising medical camps for children and adults in Tripura. The medical camp performed free of cost surgeries at the two-day long medical camp in Salbagan area in Agartala. The initiative gives both adults and children a new lease of life, giving back them their self-confidence. Special Director General of Border Security Force (BSF), BD Sharma, said such camps have been held in the past as well and almost 250 such cases have been dealt with.
