Pravasi Bharatiya Divas 2015: Sushma Swaraj invites 'young pravasis' to contribute to India's growth

Gandhinagar, Jan 07 (ANI): External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj inaugurated the Youth Pravasi Bharatiya Divas in Gandhinagar on Wednesday by lighting the ceremonial lamp. Swaraj while speaking at the event invited the 'young pravasis' to come and contribute to India's growth. Swaraj also talked about Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies of 'Make in India', 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' among others. She also applauded Indian economy 'showing new dynamism under the new government'. More than 4,000 delegates have arrived for the 13th PBD, the world's largest annual gathering of people of Indian origin, aimed at enhancing networking and reinforcing commercial linkages. SAD clarifies Punjab CM's demand on terrorists' release, commemoration of death anniversary of Indir

New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): President of SAD unit in Delhi and President of DSGMC, Manjit Singh GK on Wednesday clarified the demand made by Punjab Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal regarding the release of 13 terrorists jailed in connection with Khalistan activities. Manjit Singh GK said that the terrorists have completed even more than 10 years beyond their jail sentence which is why they have all the right to be released. He added that it was a case of human rights and the legal procedure shall be followed. He further clarified the misconception regarding the commemoration of death anniversary of Indira Gandhi's assassins by Akal Takht saying that it was a custom at gurudwara to honour anybody who keeps a 'path'. New Delhi, Jan 7 (ANI): Delhi police commissioner BS Bassi said on Wednesday that a special investigation team has been set up which will be closely monitored by DCP South, Additional DCP South, an inspector and a SHO in the Sunanda Pushkar murder case. On Tuesday reports emerged that a medical report on Congress leader Shashi Tharoor's wife Sunanda Pushkar's death says that she was poisoned. Fourteen killed, 10 injured after bus fell into gorge in Andhra Pradesh

Ananthapur, Jan 07 (ANI): At least 14 people were killed and 10 others injured after a passenger bus fell into a gorge in Ananthpur district of Penukonda in Andhra Pradesh. It was going from Madakasira to Penukonda on Wednesday when the accident took place. Police reached the spot and took the bodies out from the gorge. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. New Delhi, Jan 07 (ANI): Politicos welcomed the 'delayed but new findings' in Sunanda Pushkar's death case although they smelled some political influence in the probe. The Delhi Police on Tuesday confirmed that Pushkar was murdered by poisoning. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao welcomed the same and hoped that Delhi Police will further the investigation and brought the culprit to the book. NCP leader Majid Memon said that this took a very long time and thus the investigation and evidences may have been hampered by now. Pak captures two Indian boats with 12 fishermen off Gujarat Coast even as patrolling is on

Porbandar, Jan 07 (ANI): The Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (MSA) apprehended 12 Indian fishermen and seized their two boats near the International Maritime Boundary, a Porbandar-based NGO claimed. The incident took place even as patrolling by Indian maritime authorities is in full swing off the Gujarat coast. National Fish Workers Forum General Secretary Manish Lodhari said that there are NGOs who informed about the same and the news was now confirmed by Pakistan sources. He also said that the names of the fishermen will be given out in two days. Lodhari appealed the Indian government to work with the Pakistan authorities to get back Indian fishermen along with their boats as it can cause security threats to India. He said that if the boats are not recovered it can be used by Pak for infiltrating into India and would also cause financial loss to the nation and to the fishermen. Jan 7, 2015
