Runners from across India take part in marathon for national integrity

Siliguri, Sep 23 (ANI): Thousands of people from across India participated in a marathon in Siliguri city of West Bengal on Tuesday, which was held to ignite a sense of integrity and brotherhood. The event is being organized for the last 30 years. The 15-kilometre marathon was organized by Siliguri Baghajatin Athletic Club in association with Agragami Sporting club of Bagdogra town. Former Indian cricketer Chetan Chouhan and other dignitaries flagged off the race. Participants of all ages ran the entire stretch between Bagdogra to Siliguri in this all India open invitation road race. Sep 23, 2014

Chinese President tells Army to be ready for a regional war, politicos react

New Delhi, Sept 23 (ANI): Political leaders on Tuesday reacted over Chinese President Xi Jinping's remark that People's Liberation Army (PLA) should be combat ready for a regional war. Jinping has also said that the armed forces' chain of command should strictly follow the central leadership's instructions. On Saturday, over 50 Chinese soldiers had entered Chumar, days after 100 troops were reported to have crossed into Indian territory. SC issues strict guidelines on police encounter cases, says magisterial probe would be carried out

New Delhi, Sep 23 (ANI): In a landmark judgment, the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued strict guidelines on police encounters which mandates filing of FIR in all such cases. The SC said that if an encounter leads to a death then FIR must be filed and a magisterial probe under Sec 176 of Criminal Procedure Code carried out. The probe be handled by the state CID or a separate police station. The court has also directed that they will also have to surrender weapons and ammunition after the encounter. Further, unlike earlier when the encounter lead to awards, the court verdict also bars awarding of gallantry awards or promotion to policemen involved in encounters until the probe gets over. Four killed, 70 injured as cylinder bursts in moving bus in Bulandshahr

Bulandshahr, Sep 23 (ANI): A gas cylinder on a moving bus exploded in Bulandshahr district of Uttar Pradesh, leaving four dead, including a woman and three children and injuring more than 70. Soon after the cylinder exploded, the bus caught fire. The four dead were rushed to the government hospitals in New Delhi. District Magistrate Nidhi Kesarwani said that the critically injured are being referred to burnt unit of Safdarjung hospital in New Delhi. Fifty five passengers received serious burn injuries and are being treated in Delhi hospitals. The condition of 15 other passengers is said to be critical. Many passengers were sitting on the roof top of the bus when the incident took place. Sep 23, 2014
