Patna HC lifts ban on Manjhi taking cabinet decisions

Patna, Feb 18 (ANI): The Patna High Court on Wednesday lifted its stay on the Jitan Ram Manjhi government taking financial decisions, following which the current Bihar government can take any policy decisions. However, the government will be able to implement those decisions only after 21 February.

Politicos react after Govt defends Greenpeace activist's offloading

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Wednesday after the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) justifying its decision to stop Greenpeace activist Priya Pillai from travelling to London for a meeting of the British all-party parliamentary group told the Delhi High Court that the UK, US and European Parliament bring out "heavily biased" annual reports on rights violations which could leave India "open to a potential sanction regime". BJP leader Sudhanshu Trivedi said that if government has any suspicion on the organization then it is the duty of the government to stop its activity. BJP leader Subramanian Swamy also expressed similar sentiments. Congress leader PC Chacko said that the government's action is not justified.

BJP chooses Vijender Gupta as leader of opposition for Delhi assembly

New Delhi, Feb 18 (ANI): Vijender Gupta, one of the three successful BJP candidates in Delhi Assembly, was on Wednesday named by the party as the Leader of Opposition. Gupta, a member of the BJP's National Executive, was elected from West Delhi's Rohini constituency and has also been the president of the BJP's Delhi branch.The Bharatiya Janta Party suffered a rout in the recently held Delhi Assembly polls, with only three of its candidates securing a seat in the elections. The Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party won 67 out of the 70 seats on offer in the Delhi polls, becoming the first non-Congress and non-BJP party to rule the city.

Youth Congress protests against Vyapam Scam in Bhopal, police uses water canon against protesters

Bhopal, Feb 18 (ANI): Members of the Youth Congress staged a protest against the Vyapam scam in Bhopal on Wednesday. Protesters shouted anti-government slogans and police used water cannons to disperse the agitated crowd and manhandled the protesters. Congress party is against the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan holding his post after the scam came to light and continuously demanding his resignation. Earlier in the day, Congress MLAs staged a walkout from the Bhopal assembly in protest against the Vyapam scam.
