Heavy snowfall disrupts normal life in Kashmir

Ramban/ Shimla, Feb 04 (ANI): Heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir hit electricity, water and blocked national highway, disrupting normal life. Roads in Ramban area were filled with snow making it difficult for vehicles to ply due to which people had to walk long distances carrying their luggage. National Highway-44 was completely blocked, restricting transportation. State's capital city, Srinagar, on Sunday (February 01) had received season's first snowfall bringing cheers to residents. However, snowfall did not bring much delight to residents of Ramban district. As per local media reports, the weather department has predicted snowfall for next three days. The minimum temperature recorded was minus 0.2 degree Celsius. Reportedly, an avalanche warning has also been issued in higher reaches of the valley. Meanwhile, hill town of Shimla also received three to 90 centimeters of fresh snowfall. Minimum temperature recorded was two degree Celsius. With fresh spells of snowfall in the past two days, the valley has seen a surge in the demand of fur shoes, as leather shoes become slippery. Fur shoes also help keep feet warm while trekking on snow covered roads and mountains. These shoes are not only warm but comfortable also because of the fur used inside it. New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday said that his party is wrongly being alleged for illegal money laundering. Agartala, Feb 04 (ANI): India, Bangladesh joint district-level border conference to resolve trans-border issues kicked off in Tripura. A wide range of issues like smuggling, trans-border crime, insurgent movement, narcotics, human trafficking was discussed between officials of both the countries. Both the sides expressed satisfaction and said dialogue not only helps in mutually sorting disputes at grass-root level but also helps in confidence building between the nations. Fuel prices reduced ahead of polls in Delhi

New Delhi/ Bengaluru/ Mumbai, Feb 04 (ANI): Fuel prices have been reduced by Rs 2.42 for Petrol and Rs 2.25 for Diesel with effect from the midnight of February 3rd and 4th. Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said it would cut the retail price of diesel by about 4.7 percent and that of gasoline by 4.1 percent from Wednesday (February 04), as global prices have eased since the last revision. AAP leader Ashish Khetan said that slashing of fuel prices was a stunt by the Central government keeping February 07 Delhi polls in mind. Delhi Police summon AAP leader over seized liquor bottles

New Delhi, Feb 04 (ANI): Election Commission (EC) officials seized 397 cartons of liquor from a warehouse in west Delhi, days before the national capital goes to polls on February 07. Acting on a tip off, a team of EC officials raided the warehouse near residence of AAP leader Naresh Balyan in Uttam Nagar area and seized liquor. Police indicated towards possibility of Balyan's involvement. Balyan is AAP's candidate from Uttam Nagar. Meanwhile, BJP Spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi, said that people should understand AAP's game plan. Voting in Delhi will take place on February 7 and the results will be announced on February 10.
