PM Modi to focus on preparation of students for board exams in 'Mann Ki Baat'

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday said that the subject for 'Mann Ki Baat' for the month of February would be about the students who are preparing for board and other competitive exams. "Was thinking about this month's radio programme and thought..why not share 'Mann Ki Baat' with students preparing for board and competitive exams," the Prime Minister tweeted. He further urged students and teachers to share their experiences which could motivate and inspire those preparing for exams. "I urge students, parents and teachers to share exam experiences that would inspire youngsters and even motivate them in exam preparation," he tweeted. Feb 9, 2015

Kejriwal says names listed over black money same as AAP had revealed

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Chief Arvind Kejriwal on Monday said that the party stood vindicated as the names it had revealed in connection with black money earlier is present in the HSBC bank's Geneva branch list naming 60 Indians and entities involved. "The names I revealed in a PC on 9 Nov 2012 are there in IE list today. We stand vindicated. But bigger Q is - what did 1st Cong and nw BJP do? Nothing? Why? Some of ths ppl claim to hv both BJP n Cong in thr pocket. Why doesn't BJP govt act against HSBC officials? They will spill beans. US did precisely that," Kejriwal tweeted. Re-polling in two constituencies of Delhi

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): A day before Delhi assembly election results, residents in two constituencies of the national capital had to vote again on Monday due to fault in Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). As per media reports, voters in Delhi Cantonment and Rohtas Nagar constituencies were notified about re-polling on Sunday, after election officials found that EVMs still contained the mock votes, which were polled to check the machines. The government has declared a paid holiday in both the constituencies. However, few voters faced inconvenience and said there were no proper arrangements to keep their phones and belongings. Black Money Probe: Names revealed of account holders, Politicos react

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Politicos reacted on Monday after a leading daily The Indian Express on Monday revealed names of Indians holding black money accounts abroad. The list included names of businessmen, politicians and their relatives. BJP leader GVL Narasimha Rao said that the SIT would take the appropriate steps on the matter. NCP leader Nawab Malik said that government should take cognizance of the matter as Black Money is a heated debate today. AAP leader Atishi Marlena said that the names listed in connection with Black Money had already been announced in the past. Hardcore Maoist surrenders in Jharkhand

Khunti, Feb 09 (ANI): A hardcore Maoist surrendered before police in Jharkhand, laying down his arms and ammunition. Rebel Anil Singh gave himself up and also deposited a carbine and a rifle to Director General of Police, Jharkhand, Rajeev Kumar, at a function in Khunti district. Singh was handed over a cheque of rupees 50,000 under government's surrender policy. The rebels have operated for decades across a wide swath of central and eastern India, and grew in strength during recent times in areas where poor, tribal villagers came into conflict with mining companies seeking resources for industrialisation. Atleast 13 killed in an accident in Assam

Golaghat, Feb 09 (ANI): At least 13 people were killed in a major road accident in Golaghat district of Assam, when a vehicle carrying 15 passengers rammed into a stationary truck loaded with iron rods. The impact of the accident was so severe that 12 people died on the spot, while another victim succumbed to injuries on way to hospital. Most of the passengers sitting in the front of the vehicle were disfigured beyond recognition. Two survivors, who suffered injuries, were rushed to Jorhat Medical College and Hospital. The accident occurred on NH 37, when the passenger vehicle was coming from Dhakuakhana in Dhemaji district. One of the survivors said the vehicle was being driven by attendant while the driver was taking rest. Feb 9, 2015

Singapore President arrives in India for state visit

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam arrived in New Delhi for a four-day-visit to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries. During his visit, President Yam is scheduled to meet his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj. President Yam, who is accompanied by his wife Mary Tan, will also inaugurate an exhibition at the national museum in New Delhi. He will leave the country on February 11. Terrorism needs to be tackled with global cooperation, says President Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 09 (ANI): President Pranab Mukherjee said the international community needs to assert itself and tackle terrorism by taking concerted, coordinated and determined action. Addressing the sixth conference of Ambassadors and High Commissioners in New Delhi, the President recalled the horrific killings of innocent hostages in Syria, the attack on the media in Paris and the tragic killing of school children and their teachers in Peshawar, Pakistan. Calling terrorism an industry of evil, Mukherjee said that it was not just a threat to peace and security but an attack on humanity as a whole and civilization.
